The Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies will be wrapping up their three game series on Sunday Night baseball. This highly anticipated series hasn’t lived up to the hype, as the Phillies have dominated the Nationals through the first two games. Philadelphia hopes to complete the three game sweep against their division rivals on Sunday night.
The Washington Nationals were heavy favorites to win the National League East, but find themselves in third place at this point in the season. The Atlanta Braves have been the surprise team in baseball in 2018 and appear to be a real threat to win the NL East division. Philadelphia hopes to continue to create separation from themselves and the Nationals with a win on Sunday night. The Phillies are -105 against the Nationals in the series finale.

Red Hot Herrera Powering Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies have made a huge leap this season in large part to the play of Odubel Herrera. Herrera has had a great 2018, but has been unstoppable on offense in the last week. The young star had hit a home run in 5 straight games before failing to leave the ballpark on Saturday afternoon. The Phillies are benefitting from Herrera taking the next step in his career and delivering at the plate.
The Phillies brought in Jake Arrieta this season to help shore up their starting rotation. Arrieta has been solid in 2018, but he hasn’t been the ace of the Phillies staff. Young righty, Aaron Nola, has been dominant this season for Philadelphia and has led a very solid starting rotation. The Phillies will send struggling Nick Pivetta to the mound on Sunday night
Harper Continues to Provide Power
Bryce Harper might be in his final season with the Washington Nationals, but continues to lead their struggling offense. Harper has belted a team high 19 home runs so far this season, while also driving in a team high 45 runs. The Nationals have struggled to score runs in 2018, but these struggles can in in no way be blamed on the former MVP.
The Nationals will send a rookie to the mound on Sunday night in an effort to avoid a three game sweep. Jefry Rodriguez will be making his third start of his career, and has struggled since he was called up to the Majors in late May. Rodriguez was a highly touted prospect and must find a way to slow down the red hot Phillies offense if the Nationals are going to avoid the sweep.
Phillies Win Series Finale
Both the Phillies and the Nationals appear to factor into the playoff race in the National League, but both teams must find a way to catch the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies feature a lineup of young stars, but these young players appear ready to lead the team to the playoffs in 2018. The Nationals continue to struggle to consistently score runs, and must find players to support Bryce Harper. The series finale will be featured on Sunday Night Baseball, and the matchup features a pair of struggling young pitchers. Look for the Phillies to outscore the Nationals en route to a series sweep.
