Two teams with no love lost for each other will be squaring off on the Wednesday slate of games when the Memphis Grizzlies are on the road to take on the Golden State Warriors.
Lots of bickering and off-the-court antics have been on display when the Grizzlies and Warriors have faced each other in the past, and this game expects to be no different.
Both teams will be fresh off a loss before this game, so a little extra motivation will be in place in order to bounce back.
Overall, the Grizzlies have the better record and the better team in this matchup, but the Warriors have been consistently lights out on their home court this season. They won’t need any extra help to get up for this game.
To open, the Warriors are slightly favored on their home court over the Grizzlies at -2.
No longer a one-man show in Memphis
While the Grizzlies as a franchise have been consistent in their message to focus on the team, this year’s roster personifies that aspect far greater than previous seasons.
For a couple of stretches last year, Ja Morant looked like the focal point in just about everything that their offense did. He was their leading scorer and their best playmaker all wrapped into one package.
He still emphasizes each of those strengths from game to game; other players on the roster have stepped up and are now scoring more points and playmaking better than they ever have.
It has created a much more balanced attack that is far more difficult to guard and match up with each night. This approach can give the Warriors fits if they are not careful.
Approaching each day as a new challenge
The Warriors this season have dealt with more than a couple of ups and downs in their roster and their overall health.
Losing Steph Curry for a couple of weeks, it was thought that someone on the team would maybe step up and outperform their role for a bit.
That was never the case, and the team is currently sitting on a losing record and still seems to be trying to find their footing and the best combinations each night to play with.
There are still question marks on whether or not the main core of Draymond Green and Klay Thompson will see a reduction in their playing time, but there hasn’t been much innovation yet.
Grizzlies @ Warriors Betting Prediction
Despite the Warriors’ paltry record, both of these teams are firmly in the mix to make it out of the Western Conference when it comes time for the playoffs.
To be fair though, the Grizzlies are not an easy opponent to match up against in any sort of situation. Their dry spell at the end of their game against the Kings was confusing, but a rare scenario nonetheless.
They will be hungry to go after the Warriors like they always do, so take the Grizzlies on the road in this contest at +2.
