After a long beginning of the season, the NBA is finally making their push towards the all-star break and two of the best in the Western Conference will be squaring off in a Monday night slate of games.
Memphis, who has quietly held a top spot in the conference all season will be on the road to take on the surging Sacramento Kings. If you missed it or blinked fast enough, the Kings have vaulted their way into the top three of the west.
To say this is a big matchup would be underselling it, and the atmosphere of this game will be near the level of a playoff game. These two may end up meeting each other late in the playoffs.
The matchup between De’Aaron Fox and Ja Morant will be what most eyes will focus on, but the other role players on the roster will play a huge factor in this game.
Without a lot of respect yet in the public eye, the Memphis Grizzlies pull the favorite on the road here over the Kings at -1.5.
Another year of fight in the Memphis Grizzlies, literally
After a questionable bout against the Los Angeles Lakers and their scuffle with Shannon Sharpe on the sidelines, the Grizzlies are showing they are willing to go up against anyone in the league.
Their toughness has always defined their franchise and their city, and this year has been no different for Morant and company.
With a huge emphasis beyond the play on the court, this can be seen as both a good and a bad thing for the Grizzlies moving forward. At some points, it has a chance to be too much of a distraction.
Keeping the beam lit all season long
Someone needs to find the head of the Kings’ marketing department and give them a massive raise. Not only is their team fantastic on the floor, but the games are fun for Kings’ fans again.
Lighting the beam after each victory is an amazing experience, and it has created a movement for the late Kings’ games that everyone knows about now.
With how successful the pick and roll has been with Sabonis and Fox for the Kings, any team is going to have trouble defending the two of them.
Being underdogs on their own floor should fire up the Kings for this game and add an extra boost of motivation as they prepare.
Grizzlies @ Kings Betting Prediction
The Kings have been a Cinderella story this season and it is amazing that they are in a situation as a home underdog for this game.
Their opponent is strong, but they absolutely can handle anything the Grizzlies will throw at them. Jaren Jackson Jr. has been lights out defensively, but this will be a great test against Sabonis.
With so much to love about this Kings’ roster, it’s hard to pick against them on their home court. It may be time to light the beam once more, so take the Kings to win at +1.5
