Simpson Scores Triple-Double
Michigan is coming off a 65-49 win over Ohio St on Tuesday night. Jordan Poole led the Wolverines in scoring with 15 points on 5 of 14 shooting. Iowa is coming off a 92-87 defeat at Minnesota on Sunday. Iowa trailed by double digits for most of the second half but made a late push to make things interesting. Luka Garza led the Hawkeyes with 25 points on 9 of 13 shooting. Isaiah Moss also scored in the 20’s with 23 points on 8 of 14 shooting. Tyler Cook also went 8 of 14 from the field and scored 18 points to go along with 9 rebounds to lead the team. Jordan Bohannon led the team in assists with 5 but was only able to score 2 points and shot the ball just 3 times.
Superstars Abound
The Wolverines are led by superstar freshman Ignas Brazdeikis, who averages 15.1 points per game and adds 5.5 rebounds a game. Charles Matthews adds 12.9 points a game and Jordan Poole scores 12.7 a game to round out the double-digit scorers. Zavier Simpson might be the most valuable player for Michigan, as he scores 8.9 points a game, grabs 5.1 rebounds a game, and dishes out 5.9 assists a game which leads the team. Jon Teske is the leader in rebounding with 6.3 a game. Michigan scores 71.4 points a game on 45.6% shooting but gets it done on the defensive end, holding opponents to just 56.1 a game.
Iowa is led by preseason player of the year candidate Tyler Cook. Cook scores 16.6 points a game and is the leading rebounder with 8.1 a game. Iowa has 4 other players that average double digits. Luka Garza scores 14.8 a game and adds 4.7 boards. Freshman Joe Wieskamp has been a pleasant surprise as he is averaging 11.2 a game while shooting 43.2% from 3. Jordan Bohannon adds 10.4 points and leads the team in assists with 3.4 a game. Isaiah Moss is the best shooter on the team, as he is shooting 46.2% from 3-point range and scoring 10.2 a game. Iowa is putting up 82.2 points a game on 47.6% shooting but is allowing opponents to score 73.6 a game.
Hawkeyes vs. Wolverines Prediction
Michigan comes in at -4. Michigan is one of the best teams in the country, and they are 4-1 on the road this season. The Michigan defense will cause problems for this Iowa offense all night long. Also, Iowa doesn’t play a lick of defense so Michigan will be able to score at ease. Michigan should win this one going away. Take Michigan -4.
