The St. Louis Cardinals will take on the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday for their second game of a three-game set. St. Louis has been playing incredible baseball throughout their last 10 games, winning seven of those. Furthermore, the team just swept the Boston Red Sox in a three-game series and then beat the Brewers 18-1 on Monday.
While the Cardinals are still in last place in the National League Central, they sit just 6.5 games behind the first-place Brewers. If they found a way to sweep this series, they would find themselves in a prime position to make a run at the division in the early part of the season. That’s what the Cardinals have done throughout the past few seasons and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them do exactly that once again.
The sportsbooks believe the Cardinals are going to come away with the win as they come in at -180 on the moneyline and +115 on the run line.
The Cardinals Are Back After Struggling
The Cardinals had one of the most disappointing starts in Major League Baseball, and perhaps even the most disappointing out of any team in the league. They still sit at 17-25, but things finally look like they’re starting to click for this team. Their offenses really got going, and that’s because Nolan Arenado has finally shown why he’s one of the top players in the league.
He was struggling to start the season, hitting just .233 before their series against the Red Sox. He then came out and had a ridiculous series against the Boston Red Sox and then had another 2-3 day with a home run against the Brewers on Monday.
If he can continue producing at a high level and guys like Nolan Gorman and Paul Goldschmidt are going to be hitting the way that they are, the Cardinals are going to be doing exactly what they expected to do this season. Their struggles in the first part of the season were extremely uncharacteristic for a team that has found this much success, so expect what we’ve seen throughout the past week to stay true as that’s exactly what the Cardinals have done throughout the past few years.
Can Milwaukee Bounce Back?
The Milwaukee Brewers are in first place in the National League Central, but it’s tough to say that they’re really that good. The Brewers decided to let some of their top offensive pieces go throughout the past few years, and that’s been what’s causing them to struggle for the most part throughout the past few seasons.
They’re going to be throwing Wade Miley in this game, and that’s decent news for the Cardinals. Miley comes into this one allowing Cardinals hitters to hit /367 against him with a .413 wOBA. The lineup has done well against Miley, which could be an indication that the Brewers are going to have another tough game on Tuesday.
Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals Betting Preview Prediction
Because of how well the Cardinals have played this season, taking them in some sort of form doesn’t seem like a bad idea here. They’ve been the much better team throughout the past few weeks, and that should stay true against a struggling Brewers offense.
