A classic Eastern Conference versus Western Conference matchup is set for tonight. Two former champions take on each other in this regular-season game. The Milwaukee Bucks look to add another win to their record, bringing their total to four straight wins.
However, getting through LeBron James and Anthony Davis won’t be easy. So, what about the LA Lakers?
Los Angeles is finally back to a healthy status after getting LeBron James back. With James and Anthony Davis back in the lineup, the Lakers have the best chance of winning. Turnovers have been an issue that they’ll definitely need to avoid tonight, though.
We’ll also need to see how their interior defense does against Giannis Antetokounmpo. The question is, will it be enough?
Milwaukee Bucks: Searching for four straight wins tonight
The Milwaukee Bucks have successfully taken over the No.2 spot in the conference. In order to keep their hold on it, they’ll need to continue winning. This game against the Lakers is important for a few reasons.
One, they get to continue their winning streak, and two, they solidify themselves in the NBA. With Giannis running the show, we have no doubt in the Bucks tonight.
Milwaukee has an incredible history against the Lakers, going 8-2 in their last ten meetings. Milwaukee also has one of the best scoring offenses in the NBA, averaging 112.67 points per game.
They should be able to easily take advantage of the Lakers’ lackluster defense in tonight’s game. On average, the Lakers allow 112.26 points per game, ranking 26th in the NBA.
Los Angeles Lakers: Turnovers are a serious problem
Even in their win over the New York Knicks, the Lakers had a messy game. They turned the ball over 13 times, something they can’t do against the Milwaukee Bucks. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if Russell Westbrook begins to play a smaller role in the offense.
The Lakers shooting as a team isn’t awful, going 46.37% from the field. It’s their three-point shooting that’s a problem.
Shooting 34.7% from beyond the arc isn’t good enough to take down the Bucks. Stretching the floor against Milwaukee is important, and they can’t do it shooting that poorly.
The Bucks are shooting 36.3% from the three-point line, so Los Angeles better slow them down. If the Lakers don’t control the pace of this game, they’ll lose this one at home, something they’re familiar with.
Best Bet: Milwaukee -4.5, UNDER
For us, the pick is pretty straightforward in this one. The Bucks have shredded Los Angeles in their last ten meetings. More importantly, the Lakers have a terrible 12-17 record against the spread at home.
Even with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, they can’t seem to fix their turnover problem. They won’t be able to until they decide what they’ll do with Westbrook.
The Bucks, on the other hand, are heating up at the perfect time. Giannis is finding ways to get his team wins, and they’ve gone 15-12 on the road. The spread isn’t very large either, which will definitely help the Bucks cover it on Tuesday night.
