The Minnesota Timberwolves are on the road at the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday for Game 5 of the playoff series. Through four games so far in this series, the road team has won every game. Now, the defending NBA Champion Denver Nuggets will look to win their third straight game and move a game away from the Western Conference Finals.
The Minnesota Timberwolves were looking good with back to back wins in Denver. Then, they came home and played flat, and now are tied 2-2. Minnesota is the third seed in the West after their 56-26 season. The Timberwolves took care of the Phoenix Suns in four straight games in the opening round.
For Denver, they used five games to eliminate the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round. The Nuggets then fell in back to back home games, and the NBA Champions looked like they could be in trouble. But, a pair of wins in Minnesota has them back as the favorite. The Nuggets went 57-25 in the regular season.
The Nuggets are -4.5 in this game at home over Minnesota.
Minnesota Needs More
The Minnesota Timberwolves know they need more from guys not named Anthony Edwards. Edwards was brilliant once again, going 16 of 25 from the field and 7 of 8 from free throw, and scoring 44 points. He also had 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The Timberwolves saw all five score double digits, but they need even more.
Rudy Gobert played 35 minutes, and scored 11 points, and recorded 14 rebounds. In the regular season, Karl Anthony Towns was second in scoring, with 21.8 per game, while Gobert was third with 14 per game.
Minnesota is one of the best defensive teams in the league. In their six postseason wins so far they are allowing teams to score 98.5 points per game. During their two losses, they allowed 116 points per game.
Joker Attack
Nikola Jokic took over the Game 4 win, and evened the series. That is why he is the MVP of the league. He scored 35 points, ripped down 7 rebounds, and dished out 7 assists. The biggest story of the game was 27 points from Aaron Gordon. That is the most since he scored 29 in Game 3 against the Lakers.
Gordon averaged just 13.9 per game in the regular season. Jamal Murray added 19 and Christian Braun scored 11 for the Nuggets. Denver was not an elite offensive scoring team in the regular season, but when push comes to shove, they can put the ball in the basket. The Nuggets scored 114.9 per game.
Denver won Game 3 easily, with all five starters scoring double digits in the game. Jokic and Murray both had 24 in that game.
Denver Holds Serve at Home
The Denver Nuggets have got their confidence back. The defending NBA Champions now know they need to take care of business and get to the Western Conference Finals. Not an easy task, but the next goal at hand. When we go to bet on this game, we are going to take the Nuggets at home.
They bounce back in Denver and grab a win. Our final bet for this game is the Denver Nuggets -4.5 over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your NBA bets!
