Kevin Durant is finally back and it’s looking to be the most exciting time of the NBA season. The superstar forward has been sidelined with an injury and is expected to play on Wednesday night, barring any setbacks during warmups. Durant turned his ankle warming up less than a month ago and has been sidelined since.
When Phoenix has been without Durant since the trade went down during the NBA Trade Deadline, they’ve struggled. Rightfully so, given the fact that they traded most of their key role players for Durant and were then left with little to no depth.
Anthony Edwards is questionable for the (39-37) Minnesota Timberwolves, but it looks possible that he will play in this one. The Suns enter play as a 5.5-point favorite on their home floor.
Kevin Durant is Back for Phoenix
The season for the Phoenix Suns has been one of the more interesting in the NBA this season. Phoenix finished last season in disappointing fashion after one of the best regular seasons in NBA history. The team looked poised to make another final run but unfortunately couldn’t get the job done when it mattered most.
While this year hasn’t been much better due to injuries and some downplay, Phoenix certainly remembers that and that’s why they went out and added someone like Kevin Durant.
In Durant’s three games with the Suns this season, he’s done exactly what everybody would expect of one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. Durant averaged a cool 26.7 points per game and shot a ridiculous 69% from the field. Despite the smaller sample size, Durant was doing everything and then some for the Suns. He also shot 53.8% from three-point range on 4.3 attempts per game.
While it could take him a game or two to get back, Durant typically doesn’t miss a beat when he comes back from injuries. He’s dealt with a few throughout his career and always comes back better than he did prior to his injury.
The Timberwolves are Hot
The Minnesota Timberwolves might be the hottest team in basketball throughout their past four games. When they decided to trade for Rudy Gobert, many questioned the deal, and still do. However, when Karl-Anthony Towns has been on the court for Minnesota, they’ve proven to be one of the best teams in the NBA during his return from injury.
It’s going to be a tough task for them to win this game if Anthony Edwards is out, but Minnesota is peaking at the perfect time. They come into this one in seventh place in the Western Conference, trailing the Golden State Warriors by just .5 games. Does that mean they will rush Edwards back and make him play to try to get out of the play-in? It’s certainly possible.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
While this is expected to be one of the best games of the night, this could be a tough game to bet on until Anthony Edwards’ status is official. However, taking the Timberwolves +5.5 doesn’t seem like a bad idea. If Edwards plays, this line will move, so if you like them, get the bet in now.
