Monday Night Football is completely revitalized, bringing over Troy Aikman and Joe Buck from Fox, and ESPN’s production has gone through the roof.
One of the best games of Week 2 will take place during the Monday night doubleheader as the Minnesota Vikings go on the road to take on the Philadelphia Eagles.
Both teams in the season opener had explosive offenses that were able to put together multiple impressive drives.
The Vikings were the team that stole the hearts of America as they laid the smackdown on Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers.
There is some rain projected in the forecast, and we all know the history that Kirk Cousins has in primetime football.
As we head into this matchup, the Eagles get the nod on their home turf over the Vikings and are favored at -2.5.
The magic of Justin Jefferson creating a matchup nightmare
By the looks of it, after Week 1, no one is going to be able to keep Justin Jefferson in check this season. He creates matchup problems all over the field.
The entire Vikings offense went through Jefferson on the outside, and he was able to create more holes for Dalvin Cook to skate through.
As far as secondaries go, the Eagles were just carved up by the Detroit Lions, who don’t have anyone near the caliber of player that Jefferson is on their team.
The biggest factor working against the Vikings is the prime time slot on Monday night and rain projected in the forecast in Philadelphia.
Can the Eagles shore up their defense after a dismal showing?
With their own home crowd behind them, the Eagles should have a better chance to be able to show some more fire on the field than they did in Week 1.
That said, their rushing attack is as strong as it has ever been, and the addition of A.J. Brown has made an immediate impact on their passing attack.
He will get the lion share of the targets from Jalen Hurts, but the ground game was really the star of the show for this team.
If the defense of the Eagles can find a way to contain Jefferson, then this team will be solid at the point of attack for this home matchup.
Vikings @ Eagles Betting Prediction
In the off-season, both of these teams generally got love, and some even picked them to make a deep run towards the Super Bowl this season.
It is an important NFC matchup, especially after a strong slate of Week 2 games where standings are already starting to divide amongst the masses.
That said, these two teams will have a chance to go 2-0, and that can serve as a huge advantage moving forward in the year.
Originally, rolling with the Vikings as the underdog seemed like the play, but the weather is changing that and favors the Eagles.
Their rushing attack will dominate this game, so take them at -2.5.
