The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals will wrap up a four game series on Sunday night in the desert. The Nationals will be looking for a sweep, after winning the first 3 games of this series. This is a potential playoff preview as both the Diamondbacks and the Nationals are expected to contend for the playoffs.
The Diamondbacks are currently leading the NL West Division, but have currently lost 4 games in a row. The Nationals are finally starting to make their run and are now just 1 game back in the NL East. This has been a very tight, low-scoring series so far and game 4 should be no different. The Arizona Diamondbacks are -120 over the Washington Nationals on Sunday Night Baseball.

Arizona Must Find Offense
The Arizona Diamondbacks have scored just 1 run in each of the first three games against the Nationals. The Washington pitching staff has been sharp, but the Diamondbacks offense has been sputtering. A.J. Pollock is the best offensive weapon for the Diamondbacks and has already hit 11 home runs and driven in 33 runs this year.
The Diamondbacks desperately need a solid performance from starting pitcher Zack Godley in order to avoid the sweep. The young right hander is 4-2 with a 3.83 ERA on the young season, and looks to be a solid #2 starter for the Diamondbacks. If Godley can give the Diamondbacks a quality start, the offense can hopefully scratch out a few runs to avoid the sweep.
Nationals’ Pitchers Lead the Way
The Washington Nationals have taken the first three games in this series thanks to their dominant pitching staff. Both Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg were magnificent in their starts the last two nights, and have won despite getting little run support. Veteran Jeremy Hellickson (1-0, 2.28 ERA) will make the start for the Nationals on Sunday night. Hellickson will look to take advantage of a struggling Diamondbacks offense.
The Nationals have won 3 games in a row, but their offense has still be struggling to do their part. The one constant this season has been right fielder, Bryce Harper. Harper leads the NL with 12 home runs and has also driven in 29 runs. The Nationals are looking for players to bat around Harper to get the team scoring more runs. The Nationals can’t rely on their pitchers every night out.
Sunday Night Baseball Sweep
The Diamondbacks’ offense has been held down all weekend, and their slump will continue on Sunday night. A.J. Pollock has been terrific all season, but has struggled against the tough Washington pitching staff this weekend. The Diamondbacks will need to find a way to score 3 runs if they want a chance to win.
The Nationals had been struggling prior to this series, but it appears that they are about to take off. Their pitching staff is one of the best in baseball and they have completely shut down a very good Diamondbacks teams. Look for the Nationals to score just enough runs to complete the 4 game sweep in the desert. Bet the Washington Nationals +120 over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
