The Baltimore Orioles visit the Chicago White Sox on Monday evening. The contest will begin at 7:10 p.m. central at Guaranteed Rate field. The Orioles are 14-32 on the year so far. They will look to use this game against the struggling White Sox to lift their record. Meanwhile, the White Sox are 13-30 on the year, not much better than Orioles. Andrew Cashner will be the pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles. Cashner has a 1-5 record so far this year, so he will be looking to improve. Cashner also owns a 4.83 ERA. For the White Sox, Hector Santiago will be taking the mound. Santiago is 0 – 1 so far this season with a 5.29 ERA. Baltimore and the White Sox are both -110 in this game.

Baltimore Orioles
It’s safe to say that this regular season has been disappointing for the Orioles. In fact, disappointing might be an understatement. However, the play of Manny Machado has been very impressive. Nearly every stat is impressive for Machado so far. He is batting .343 in his 46 games. He has also driven in a staggering 42 runs. These stats combined with the fact that he gets on base 42% of the time make him a tremendous threat to a White Sox pitching staff that hasn’t exactly been impressive this year. Machado is also on pace to hit around 55 home runs this season, so it will be interesting to see how his power numbers change as we move forward this season.
Andrew Cashner will have to improve if he wants to get the win today. Both his record and ERA show this.
Chicago White Sox
When Chris Sale was traded to Boston for a haul of prospects, White Sox fans knew they were in for a rebuild phase. Low expectations for this season aside, not many fans would have predicted the Sox having 30 losses already with the amount of young talent they have. While the young lineup showed promise last season, they haven’t shown a lot this year. However, they have shown some winning ability the last few games, taking 3 of 4 from the Rangers. A couple wins against Baltimore would certainly do singers for the fans, who will be looking for anything to show them that the rebuild is working.
Three bright spots for the White Sox stand out: José Abreu, Yolmer Sanchez, and Daniel Palka. Abreu is batting .299, with 25 RBIs and 8 home runs. Meanwhile, Sanchez has 20 RBIs to go with his .281 average. Palka has burst into the scene in Chicago with 13 RBIs in just 18 games.
White Sox Continue Warm Streak
This season, it is tough to expect winning from the White Sox who, after depleting their roster for prospects, have also dealt with injuries. However, they have had some good hitting lately and Santiago’s record isn’t terrible. It would be tough to rely on Cashner to put the White Sox away. Take the White Sox at -110.
