On Monday night, the Minnesota Vikings will travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in a game with huge playoff implications. The Vikings come in at 6-5-1 and are in the second wild-card position by just one game. The Vikings need a win to keep a lead on three 6-7 teams. The Seahawks come in at 7-5 and are in the first wild-card position. The Seahawks control their own destiny and could put a stranglehold on a playoff position with a win here.

Both Teams Coming in Hot
The Vikings are coming off a hard-fought 24-10 loss to the New England Patriots. The offense struggled all game in this one. Quarterback Kirk Cousins went 32 for 44 for just 201 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray combined for 95 yards on 13 carries. Adam Thielen had his worst game of the year, catching five balls for just 28 yards but did tally a touchdown. The defense kept them close for the most part as the game was tied at 10 with a minute left in the third quarter before the Patriots scored two unanswered touchdowns.
The Seahawks come in on a three-game win streak and destroyed the 49ers 43-16 last week. Russell Wilson had a solid game, going 11 for 17 for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny combined for 134 yards on 20 carries and Penny added a touchdown. The offense was not on the field much as they struck quickly on multiple drives. The defense was dominant early in the game, holding San Francisco to only three points in the first half. The Niners were able to add 13 points in the second half against prevent defense because of the massive lead.
Seattle Turning Things Around
Minnesota had high expectations coming into this season but have not been able to put it all together yet. Both the offense and the defense have been solid but neither have been incredible, and that is why they have an average record instead of a great one. The offense is ranked 18th in points per game with 23 per game. They are 15th in total yards per game with 361. The defense has been a little better than the offense, allowing only 23 points a game which is good for 11th in the league. They allow 99 rush yards a game and 229 passing yards a game and will need to maintain those numbers in Seattle to have a chance.
Seattle had a slow start to the season but have turned it around into what looks like a playoff appearance. Both sides of the ball have been getting it done. The offense ranks first in the NFL in rushing yards a game with 149 yards. The passing attack has been lackluster, putting up only 204 yards a game. However, they have put up 27 points per game which is 9th in the league. The defense has had a bend-but-don’t-break season so far. They allow 367 total yards per game which is 19th in the league put are 8th in points allowed with only 22 per game.
Seahawks vs. Vikings Prediction
The Seahawks come in at -3. This game is going to come down to which offense can run the ball more effectively. The Vikings offense has struggled for a good part of the season, and I think they will have trouble with this Seattle defense. They will move the ball, but I don’t think they will be able to punch it into the end zone enough. The Seahawks will be able to run the ball successfully as they have all season long and will win this game by at least a touchdown. Take Seattle -3.
