The Dallas Mavericks visit the United Center in Chicago on Monday night, where they will take in the Chicago Bulls. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 pm central time. The Mavericks are 4-8 on the year. The Bulls’ record sits at 4-9. Both teams won their last game. The point Spread: Bulls -1
The Mavericks’ win came against the Thunder, by a margin of 111-96. Rookie standout Luka Doncic led the scoring effort for Dallas, scoring 22 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, and amassing 8 assists. J.J. Barea and Dennis Smith Jr. each helped move the ball, with each of them getting 5 assists. Barea had 22 points and Smith had 10. The Mavericks’ most impressive stat of the night was their three-point shooting. They shot 48% from behind the 3 point line throughout the game.
The Bulls’ last game was a hard fought victory against the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers. They won that one 99-98. Zach LaVine, a mainstay in Chicago’s scoring leaders, led the team in scoring once again with 24 points. He also added 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The rest of the scoring leaders were Jabari Parker, Ryan Arcidiacono, and Wendell Carter Jr. Parker had 13 points, while Carter and Arcidiacono each added 15. While they didn’t shoot the ball exceptionally well as a team, the Bulls did well enough to earn themselves a win, albeit over a team that is a shell of what it was last year. The biggest concern for Bulls fans in this game is that they blew a sixteen point lead in that game.

Dallas Led by Rookie
In scoring, Dallas is led by rookie Luka Doncic. Doncic averages 20.3 points per game. The assists leader is J.J. Barea, who has just under 6 per game. DeAndre Jordan has been crashing the boards, pulling down 13.5 rebounds per game from the center position. Next to Doncic, there are some other good scorers on this roster. Wesley Matthews is averaging 16.8 points per game. Dennis Smith Jr. is averaging 15.5 from the point guard position, and Harrison Barnes is averaging 14.5.
LaVine Having Great Season
The Bulls are led by dynamic guard Zach LaVine, who is averaging 27.2 points per game. Rookie Wendell Carter Jr. adds 11.8 per game, and Jabari Parker scores 14.7. Chicago will need every bit of that scoring in this game, in order to win. Wendell Carter Jr. also pulls down 7.7 rebounds each game.
Dallas Tops Chicago
Simply put: The Bulls are a good team. Maybe, the Bulls are a great team. They may even be a playoff caliber team. However, it isn’t the Bulls that will be taking the floor in this game. Two of their best players are hurt in Kris Dunn and Lauri Markkanen. In my opinion, those Bulls’ record would look a LOT different than this team. They can still win this game if they shut down Luka Doncic. I still don’t believe in Chicago until they get their players healthy and then get the team to gel. I think the Mavericks win this one.
