The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers will meet in the 2018 NBA Finals. This will be the fourth straight year that these two teams will square off in the Finals. The Warriors will have home court advantage in this series and will host the first two games at Oracle Arena.
The Warriors are the heavy favorites in this series, but the Cavaliers, with LeBron James, are always dangerous. The Warriors reached the NBA Finals by defeating the Houston Rockets in a dramatic seven game series. Cleveland upset the Boston Celtics in 7 games to reach the NBA Finals. The Cleveland Cavaliers are a whopping +12.5 against the Warriors in game 1.

Warriors Need to Stop LeBron
The Golden State Warriors know that they must figure out a way to stop LeBron James in this series. The Warriors will be without top defender, Andre Iguodala, in game 1. Look for Draymond Green and Kevin Durant to draw the defensive assignment against James, and they have had past success in stopping him.
Kevin Durant has led the Warriors all postseason, but the “Splash Brothers” stepped up in the series against Houston. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 14 threes in the game 6 win, and Curry responded by knocking down 7 three’s in game seven. The Warriors have more than enough offensive talent to win game 1.
Cavaliers Need Players to Step Up
The Cavaliers know that they are going to get production from LeBron, but they will need other players to step up to stay with the Warriors. Kevin Love is battling a concussion and it doesn’t appear that he will be ready for game 1. Look for Kyle Korver and JR Smith to step up on the offensive end in support of LeBron.
The Cavs are trying to get revenge on the Warriors after being eliminated in 5 games last season. Cleveland was a big underdog against the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, and they will look to continue their run as underdogs. Cleveland must find a way to slow down the Warriors offense, while finding a way to score points themselves.
Golden State Takes Game 1
On paper this doesn’t look like it is a good matchup, but you can never count out LeBron James in any playoff series. King James has the potential to play all 48 minutes in game 1, and he won’t let the Warriors off the hook easily. If the Cavs are able to get some support from their other starters, they have a chance of competing with the defending champs.
The Warriors have been tough to beat at home in the playoffs the last few years, and they will use this home court advantage to win game 1 of this series. Cleveland is not a very good defensive team and the Warriors should be able to thrive on offense all series long. The Warriors will win game 1 of this series, but it will be a single digit victory. Bet the Cleveland Cavaliers +12.5 against the Warriors in game 1.
