LeBron Dominant in Defeat
LeBron James delivered arguably the best NBA Finals performance in NBA history in the game 1 loss. James finished with 51 points on 19-32 shooting from the field. King James either scored or assisted on 70 of the Cavaliers 114 points. If the Cavaliers are going to win game 2, it will take another monster games from James.
The Cavaliers struggled from the three point line in game 1, shooting just 10-37 on three point attempts. Cleveland must make shots from deep to keep the lane open up for James to drive to the rim. The Cavs need Kevin Love and JR Smith to provide more outside scoring in game 2.
Warriors Catch Fire Late
The Warriors struggled from deep during game 1, but caught fire late to secure the victory. The Warriors shot just 36% from the three point line in the win, but made all three attempts from long range in the overtime frame. The Warriors used the hot shooting to outscore the Cavs 17-7 in overtime to take the series opener. Golden State needs to shoot with a higher efficiency for the duration of game 2 in order to take a 2-0 series lead.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors in scoring in game 1, finishing with 29 points on 11-23 shooting. Curry also did a great job of taking care of the ball, and dished out 9 assists against just two turnovers. Golden State struggled to find their offensive rhythm in game 1, but had enough individual talent to win. Look for the Warriors to try to push the tempo in game 2 in an attempt to wear down the Cavs.
Warriors Roll in Game 2
The Cavaliers missed a great opportunity to stun the Warriors and win game 1 of the series. LeBron James did everything possible to lead his team to the victory, but his teammates let him down late in the game. Look for King James to have another monster game 2, but it is yet to be seen if it will be enough.
The Warriors know that they were fortunate to win the series opener, and they have plenty of adjustments to make. Golden State must find a way to slow down LeBron while increasing the pace of the game. The Warriors will bounce back in game 2 and will dominate the Cavaliers in game 2.
