After letting down everybody who picked them last year and being on the wrong side of history, it seemed Virginia may be content to let it happen again. After a swift talking to from Tony Bennett though, they corrected their mistakes and moved on to round two.
The result of Oklahoma’s showdown with Ole Miss was hardly ever in question. They led by 17 at the half, using a quick start to fuel them. If they are hoping to pull this massive upset today, they are going to need every single player to have a major performance. The Virginia Cavaliers come into this game at -11.5, and the total is listed a 128.

Virginia Cavaliers
When we talk about the Cavaliers, it always starts with their defense. They don’t have any weaknesses on that end, which is how they amassed only three losses all season despite being nowhere near the best scoring teams in the country. A key decision from Tony Bennett in the last game was to sit Jack Salt for the rest of the contest after five minutes. His replacement, Mamadi Diakite finished the day with 17 points and nine boards off the bench, really doing a number on Gardner-Webb.
After being down double-digits in the opening half, they corrected all their mistakes and held their foes to just 20 points after the break. De’Andre Hunterndre led the way with 23 points, while Ty Jerome was also in double-figures with 13 on the day. They have a good chance to walk away as winners tonight, with the possibility of heading to the sweet 16 a real thing.
Oklahoma Sooners
Yeah, there was never a reason to believe that when the seedings came out that the Sooners would not be advancing. They gave Ole Miss the business from the opening tip. Led by Kristian Doolittle’s 19 points and 15 rebounds, they got out down and dirty. Christian James and Rashard Odomes both scored 20, while Brady Manek added 18. Miles Reynolds led the bench with seven points for the game. Having all of those guys able to score consistently put pressure on, and because of it, they could not be slowed. If one player was double-teamed, another weapon would be wide open.
Virginia is a stifling defensive team, and so they are going to need one or two of the four guys we mentioned above to BRING IT tonight for them to try and pull the upset. A lot of brackets likely have Oklahoma in this one due to the fact that Virginia
lose to #16 UMBC in the first round last year.
Virginia is back in the sweet 16!
Folks, be sure to bet OK +11.5. Virginia is in fact going to claim a victory in this game, but in a close game. The Sooners will not give in, and it will make for quite the battle. Both squads have explosive scorers in their backcourt, who will be unleashed in full tonight! The Cavaliers win the game, but the Sooners cover the spread in this Round of 32 game in the NCAA Tournament.
