From Folsom Field, on the campus of the Colorado University Buffaloes, the Nebraska Cornhuskers will take on the home Buffaloes.
The Cornhuskers come into the game fresh off a tough 13-10 loss on the road at Minnesota. This is the second straight road game for the Cornhuskers before they come home and host Northern Illinois next week. For Colorado, they are 1-0 following their big national televised upset win over the TCU Horned Frogs in Week 1.
The last time these two teams played was September 7th, 2019. In that game, the Buffaloes won 34-31 over the Cornhuskers. Colorado comes into this game as the favorite. The Buffaloes are -3 at home, and the total is 58.5.
Cornhuskers Seeking Some Offense
The Nebraska Cornhuskers would like to find some offense during the week. Jeff Sims, a mobile quarterback, led the team in rushing with 91 yards but only threw for 114 yards. Sims, despite losing the game, threw the football just 19 times. Three of those passes were interceptions, so the Cornhuskers have got to figure out the turnover game.
Alex Bullock was the lone touchdown for the Cornhuskers. He finished the game with three receptions, 56 yards and the score. The Cornhuskers gave the ball to Gabe Ervin Jr. 7 times, while Anthony Grant got it nine times.
Hype Continues to Rise for Buffaloes
The hype is all over the Colorado Buffaloes football program. After one game, it is real. The Buffaloes went on the road and beat the defending National runner-up team from a season ago.
In the game, Colorado scored 45 points. The Buffaloes, led by their first-year coach, Deion Sanders, have remade their entire roster. It was needed after winning just three games a season ago.
Shedeur Sanders, the son of the head coach, threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns in the game. Dylan Edwards led the team with five receptions, with three going for touchdowns. Edwards finished with 135 yards receiving.
Sy’veon Wilkerson was the top run threat for Colorado, with 13 carries, 45 yards and a touchdown. The Buffaloes, with their 510 passing yards, were the second most in all of College Football in Week 1.
Colorado looks to move to 2-0 with this game, and then they will welcome Colorado State to town next week. After that is where things get tough, with a trip to Oregon and then a home game against the USC Trojans.
Buffaloes Move to 2-0 in 2023
The Colorado Buffaloes can score. There is no doubt that Nebraska’s defense will get quite the challenge here. And for much of the game, they may be able to keep up.
But 60 minutes against an attack like the Buffaloes is too much. As the game progresses, the Buffaloes offense finds a way to get into the end zone more often. The spread is too small, at just -3.
Take Colorado -3 over Nebraska on Saturday. A final score prediction of 38-20 is the right move here.
