A week of division rivalries and huge playoff-altering matchups brings itself to a close on Monday Night Football when the New England Patriots are on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.
If you looked up the definition of a coin flip, you would find pictures of both of these two teams. They are the most inconsistent teams in each of their respective conferences, so it is apropos that they take each other on in prime time.
The Cardinals have spent most of the season bickering with each other on the sidelines and on Twitter, while the Patriots have been fighting hard all season to remain relevant in a tough division.
The fight is on, and both of these teams are on the outskirts of the postseason bubble and will likely miss the playoffs altogether.
Ahead of this game in Arizona, the spread favors the road team Patriots over the Cardinals at -1.5.
A continued quarterback battle in New England
Mac Jones continues to struggle this season after a great rookie campaign in 2021. He doesn’t seem to be able to rally the troops in the same way.
Their roster on offense hasn’t been great, to say the least, but with so many ups and downs in the season, it is hard to find any sort of consistency, either.
This has left the door open for teams in many games, and with the Patriots, you end up knowing how they are going to be playing in the first quarter.
What the Patriots need to do is find a way to take an early lead in this game and keep the ball away from the Cardinals from there on out. That is when they are at their best.
Fighting through the struggles and working out the kinks
With how much turmoil has happened in Arizona this season, it can get exhausting to talk about.
Kyler Murray was able to secure the bag in the offseason but has done nothing so far this season to prove that it was worth the investment. He seems to fight with teammates and the coaching staff and continues to play disappointingly.
The spotlight continues to shine on the Cardinals, and that will ultimately highlight weak spots in this roster.
As for this particular matchup, they do have a good chance to win on their home field. Being an underdog feels like it gives them a better chance.
Patriots @ Cardinals Betting Predictions
The AFC and NFC have put these two teams in a weird situation to end the year. Neither will be likely to make the playoffs, so there is not too much left to play for.
That being said, with both teams being relatively equal on all fronts, the Cardinals being a home dog in this game doesn’t seem right. The Patriots do not have their number.
Take them to hold their own in this game and come out of this primetime matchup with a win over the New England Patriots at +1.5.
