For New England, the goal this season is simple as any. They seek to make their ninth consecutive AFC Championship Game and fourth Super Bowl in a row. The dominance they have put together in these past eight seasons has been ridiculously impressive, as their ageless QB, Tom Brady, has continued to sling the ball as well as anybody in the league. The Pats even re-tooled their roster this past offseason, making them as dangerous as ever.
Tennessee, on the other hand, is hoping to make it back to the playoffs after missing out last year. Two years ago, they upset the Chiefs 22-21, in large part thanks to Marcus Mariota catching his own pass and taking it to the house for the touchdown. This will be the second year with Mike Vrabel in charge, and the postseason should be the only expectation they have. They play in a very tight division, where any of the four teams will have a chance at coming out on top.
The spread favors the Patriots by 1.5 points (NE -1.5), and the over/under is set at 42.
Patriots Looking For New Weapons
For all of the talent that they already boast on their roster, the Patriots got even better through the draft. They picked up Alabama RB Damien Harris, who could project as a long-term starter, despite the strong rookie season that Sony Michel had. They added N’Keal Harry, who is a tremendous pass-catcher and route-runner, and just adds to the depth they already have. They added ex-Redskins receiver Maurice Harris, who has already been impressing. AND Josh Gordon was reinstated Friday and cleared to return for the regular-season opener. Don’t forget about other additions Cameron Meredith and Demaryius Thomas as well.
On the other side of the ball, the team remains steady and with plenty of playmakers. They project to win the AFC East for a ninth time in a row.
Titans Trying To Pick Up The Pieces
After a disappointing season in 2018, the Titans are hoping to make 2019 their year. The addition of former Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill opens up a position battle between him and Mariota, as they hope to find the right guy for the job. They added Adam Humphries from the Bucs to try and solidify their receiving corps. Their defense is full of playmakers, both young and old, hungry to make a difference on a winning football team. We’ll see some of those guys Saturday night, but not too many of them.
This game is likely going to see one or two drives at most from the starters, with the backups coming in after. Expect Tannehill to get more reps than Mariota, and QB3 Logan Woodside to play the majority of the second half.
Titans Pick Up The Preseason Victory
Make sure that your money is on the Titans, folks. They will finish the game strong en route to picking up the victory in the second preseason week!
