Looking to Snap Losing Streak
New Orleans allowed the Milwaukee Bucks to score 75 points in the first half of the game, and it was never competitive from there. The Pelicans allowed 141 points in the loss. Brandon Ingram was the top scorer for the Pelicans, as he scored 26 points, while Zion Williamson added 23 for New Orleans.
On the season, Ingram and Williamson are battling it out for the team lead. They are both just shy of 22 points per game. CJ McCollum is third, but had a tough game Saturday with just 7 points. As a team, the Pelicans are 13th in the league with more than 116 points per game.
New Orleans is at the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, and the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. When the road trip comes to an end, the Pelicans will host the Raptors on February 5th, and then go back out on the road for four more, with trips to the Clippers, Lakers, Trail Blazers and Grizzlies.
Tatum Among League’s Best
Jayson Tatum scored 21 points and recorded 11 assists, but a Boston team that came into the game scoring 120.8 points per game, scored just 96 in the loss. The Celtics saw big man Al Horford not score a single point, while Kristaps Porzingis did not play in the game. Porzingis has a left ankle injury, and is expected to play on Monday.
Tatum leads the team with 27 points per game. Jaylen Brown is second on Boston with 23, while Porzingis is just behind them with 19.5 points per game. Boston has playing the regular season with a sour taste in their mouths following their Game 7 loss a season ago in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Boston will host the Pacers on Tuesday for the third game of their home stand. After that, the Celtics will welcome the Lakers, Grizzlies, Hawks and Wizards. Boston does not play another road game until February 11th in Miami.
Celtics Pop Pelicans
The Celtics are going to win this game, and win this game easily. The Celtics are not a team that is going to let one bad loss turn into two bad losses. Boston is going to come out strong in this game, and make sure they will not lose. Boston scores early and Boston scores often. The Celtics get to 130+ points on a weak New Orleans defense. When the final push comes to shove, the Celtics win this game easily. Take Boston 8.5- over New Orleans on Monday in NBA action.
