Another week goes by in the regular season and it is another week where we seem to have no clear correlations on who is good in the NFL.
Both teams featured on this week’s edition of Thursday Night Football have been confusing to say the least, and we will see the New Orleans Saints on the road to take on the Arizona Cardinals.
The Cardinals have been showcasing one of the worst offenses in the NFL and just lost Hollywood Brown to an ankle injury, but quickly replaced him with the return of Deandre Hopkins and trading for Robbie Anderson.
Jameis Winston has a chance to jump into playing for the Saints in this game, but he has been battling injuries all season and so has their top receiver, Chris Olave.
Looking at the spread for this game, we find the Arizona Cardinals favored at home over the New Orleans Saints at -1.5.
A quarterback committee to lead the way
The Saints have deployed three different quarterbacks this season: Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, and Taysom Hill.
Just a few weeks ago, Hill exploded all over Seattle with four touchdowns in their win and looked dominant in running the ball.
It seems to happen every fifth game, and the Saints offense has been wildly unimpressive otherwise without some of their best players in the lineups every week.
Shaky is a good adjective to describe this team, as they have a lot of kinks to iron out on their roster.
Can the dumpster fire continue for the Cardinals?
If the Cardinals drop this game at home on Thursday night with everyone tuning in, somebody will likely wind up losing their job.
Even with the loss of Hollywood Brown for a significant time, the Cardinals should have replacements ready with acquiring Anderson and Hopkins after returning from his suspension.
Kyler Murray is erratic, but maybe the return of his most reliable receiver in Hopkins will have a calming effect on his game and a go-to target.
The rest of the Cardinals’ team, including their coaching and their front office, have been unable to prove they are ready to make a significant stride in the NFC.
Saints @ Cardinals Betting Prediction
Both of these teams have performed well below expectations so far this season, and a loss here by either team could really eliminate them from the playoff race.
It sounds weird to say that so early on in the season, but the NFC is a wild wild west and every win is going to matter when nearly every team will finish between seven and 11 wins.
With all that said, the Cardinals will get their offense back on track at home in prime time and remind us of the connection between Hopkins and Murray.
Hopkins might not save their season, but he can save this game. Take the Cardinals at -1.5 on their own field.
