To wrap up another week of NFL action, the NFC South will be capping off this week’s slate of games with a Monday night matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
This is, without a doubt, the strangest division in football. All four teams have nearly identical records and they are all under .500 on the season as a whole.
It looks to be one of those situations where neither team really wants to grab and take control of the division, so the door is wide open for any of the four teams to make some noise.
The Saints and Buccaneers both need this game to give them a chance of solidifying their playoff spot in the NFC.
Tom Brady can still right this ship with this team, and they are favored on their home field in this game at -3.5.
Do the Saints have a fighting chance to win the division?
With so much turmoil within the NFC South, the Saints have flown quietly under the radar and haven’t really been the subject of much attention this season.
Somehow, after an injury, Jameis Winston ended up benched and there has yet to be a real explanation as to why.
There are plenty of skill guys on this roster that can be considered difference makers, and their organization is always one of the teams that drafts well. Chris Olave at wide receiver could very well be considered for rookie of the year.
With that being said, if they manage to beat the Buccaneers on their own field, the Saints are going to be in a strong position moving into the end of the season. They will be able to take control of their own destiny.
Only a few wildcards left to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
It has been nothing but turmoil in Tampa this season, and it began in the offseason with everything surrounding Tom Brady off the field.
It has clearly carried over on the field, and the team has suffered a number of injuries as well that hasn’t helped the situation either.
Not to mention the coaching situation hasn’t necessarily been the best fit with Todd Bowles.
It doesn’t mean that there still isn’t hope, but even if the Buccaneers manage to win the division, they are not going to be a scary matchup in the postseason against any of the top NFC teams.
Saints @ Buccaneers Betting Prediction
The Saints have been the biggest kryptonite for Tom Brady and the Buccaneers since Brady joined the roster.
A prime time matchup should give them the chance to break this spell and move Brady into a commanding control of the NFC South.
There are a lot of ifs in there, but a win here will set their team on the right track for the final few weeks of the regular season.
Take the Buccaneers at -3.5 to win on their home field against the Saints.
