It’s postseason time in the National Football League. Saturday, a pair of games will be played. The second one will feature the Miami Dolphins on the road at the Kansas City Chiefs. Miami and Kansas City both come into this game with 11-6 records.
The Dolphins led the AFC East all season, until the final few weeks, including Week 18 when Buffalo beat them in Miami. The Bills swept the season series against the Dolphins. Miami lost their final two games, and three out of their final five games on the season.
For the Kansas City Chiefs, their 11-6 was mixed with stretches of solid and poor play. The Chiefs finished the season on Sunday with a road win at the Los Angeles Chargers. Kansas City won the AFC West.
The Kansas City Chiefs are -3.5 in this game at home over the Miami Dolphins. The total for this game is set at 43.5
Dolphins Limping into Kansas City
The Miami Dolphins beat the Washington Commanders 45-15, and it was their third straight win, and they were 9-3, and three games ahead of Buffalo in the divisional standings. A loss to the Titans set them back, but then they turned around with wins over the Jets and Cowboys. At 11-4, they needed just one win at Baltimore or over Buffalo, or just one Bills loss. Neither happened.
On offense, Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Waddle have missed the last two games with injuries. On defense, Andrew Van Ginkel left Sunday’s game, while Xavier Howard, Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips are all hurt, and out. It has not been a good December into January for the Dolphins.
Tua Tagovailoa could get to 5000 passing yards on the season with 376 in this game. The lefthanded signal caller has 29 touchdown passes on the season. 13 of them have gone to Tyreek Hill. For Hill, this is a revenge game against his former franchise. Mostert has been the man on the ground, with more than 1,000 yards.
Mahomes and the Chiefs Ready to Magic
Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and company are ready to run it back. The three seed in the AFC will force them to win on the road, but that’s a place they are 6-2 this season. But, first, the Chiefs have to improve upon their 5-4 home mark. Kansas City comes into the game with two straight wins, and three out of their last four.
Mahomes threw for 4,183 yards on the season, with 27 touchdowns and 14 interceptions. His top target Travis Kelce has 93 receptions. 984 yards and five touchdowns. The Chiefs used just 185 yards from Mahomes in the win in Germany earlier in the season. Rahsee Rice was the top target then with just 17 yards and a touchdown.
Isiah Pacheco rushed 16 times in that game, with 68 yards. On the season, he needs 65 to reach 1,000. Pacheco has 7 touchdowns on the ground as well. Kansas City will be without backup running back Jerrick McKinnon, who is out with a groin injury.
Chiefs Eliminate Dolphins in Kansas City
The Miami Dolphins look defeated. They did not play well in the home loss in Week 18. They continue to lose some of their best players to injuries. Things are not going as planned for the Dolphins. Now, they have to go on the road, on a short week and take on the defending Super Bowl Champions.
This is not going to be a fun time for the Dolphins to play in cold, snowy Kansas City. When we go to make our betting pick for this game, the Kansas City Chiefs are the pick to make. Kansas City gets ahead, and stays ahead. The Chiefs head to the next round. Take Kansas City -3.5 over Miami.
