In College Football on Saturday, one of the best games of the day features the North Carolina Tar Heels on the road at the South Carolina Gamecocks.
The Tar Heels finished last season with a 9-5 record, including 6-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Tar Heels fell in their final two games of the season: 39-10 to Clemson in the ACC title game and then 28-27 to Oregon in the Holiday Bowl.

Gamecocks Look to Build Off 2022
The finish was strong despite the loss to Notre Dame a season ago. South Carolina will look to build off that before competing in the SEC – East. The Gamecocks passed for 260 yards per game and scored more than 32 points in 2022. Trey Knox joins the Gamecocks this season and is expected to fill the role at tight end immediately. He will be a security target for quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Rattler returns after throwing for 3,026 yards and 18 touchdowns last season. His 12 interceptions are something the Gamecocks are looking to cut down. His top target, Antwane Wells Jr, is also back this season. The Gamecocks return their top two, as Jalen Brooks is also back after 504 yards a season ago.
The running back position looks to be Dakeron Joyner, who only got 12 carries a season ago, along with JuJu McDowell. McDowell carried it 62 times. That’s where the Gamecocks will need to figure out what they want to do most effectively to be able to move the ball on the ground.
