After a rousing game that went down to the closing seconds on Tuesday night, the Oklahoma City Thunder will be back on the road to take on the Los Angeles Clippers for the second time this week.
As close as these teams are in record currently, the Thunder are fighting for their lives to try and push themselves into the mix to end the season.
A bad situation for the Clippers happened late in the game when Paul George came down awkwardly and injured his right knee. If he is to miss some extended time, the Clippers will likely be starting Terrence Mann in his place and rely on Mann and Eric Gordon to fill the gap in scoring.
Despite the injury to George, Kawhi Leonard has been on one of the most impressive stretches of his career so far, and fortunately the Thunder have the right kind of defenders to slow him down.
Coming into this game, the Clippers are favored on their home court at -3 over the Thunder.
Looking to keep themselves in the final mix
The Thunder have been one of the more impressive turnarounds from last season, and they look the part of a playoff team.
The problem is how congested the Western Conference is, but with the win on Tuesday over the Clippers, another win here would make a world of difference in the standings.
It is crazy how at this stage of the season that one win or loss for any of these teams can make the biggest difference in how it all shakes out.
As the Thunder’s young players continue to develop, they will look to be one of the harder first-round matchups that top seeds will face in the postseason, and no one is going to want to play them.
Finding their revenge after Tuesday’s loss
Just when the Clippers felt like they might be putting everything together after a long season, Paul George goes down with injury and they lose to the Thunder on Tuesday.
Not too often in the NBA do you have the chance to immediately look for revenge against a recent loss.
Leonard is playing his best basketball of the season, and he will have to step up in an even bigger way with the injury to George.
Other role players have looked the part recently, but there is something to be said for this team to rally on their home court.
Thunder @ Clippers Betting Prediction
In a matchup of young players against seasoned veterans, the young core won out on Tuesday night and will look to do the same on Thursday.
Potentially, these two teams still have a chance to meet up against each other in the first round, but the Clippers winning here would keep them high up in the standings.
Revenge opportunities don’t come around so suddenly like this, and the Clippers will be able to take full advantage of what is before them. Roll with the Clippers at -3 over the Thunder on their home court.
