Both Teams Coming Off Of Victories
Oklahoma is coming off a 74-64 victory over Oklahoma St their last time out. Kristian Doolittle led the Sooners with 16 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Brady Manek added 15 points and 5 rebounds. Christian James was a key player in the game and led the team with 11 rebounds. James also tallied 14 points which gave him his 6th double-double of the year. Oklahoma has played 4 road games on the season and has gone 3-1 with their only loss coming to the Kansas Jayhawks by 7 points.
Texas Tech is coming off a 63-57 victory over the Kansas St Wildcats in their last game. Davide Moretti led the way with 19 points on 7 of 11 shooting. Matt Mooney was the only other Red Raider in double figures as he scored 14 points. Tariq Owens had a solid game as well scoring 9 points to go along with 8 rebounds. Superstar Jarrett Culver had the worst game of the season scoring just 9 points to go with 7 rebounds and 3 assists. This was the first game Culver did not score double digits in points. The Red Raiders are 9-0 at home on the year.
Christian James Leads the Sooners
Christian James is the main man on this Sooner team. He leads the team in points with 17.1 a game and rebounds with 7.8 a game. The Sooners have two other players averaging double digits. Brady Manek scores 11.4 points a game and Miles Reynolds chips in 10.4 points per game. Aaron Callixte and Kristian Doolittle will have to play solid games if they are going to win in Lubbock. The offense is averaging 75.4 points a game, and they are allowing 66.2 per game. The challenge in this one will be on offense as they are going against a stout defensive team in Texas Tech.
Jarrett Culver has been the do-it-all guy for Texas Tech, as he leads the team in points, rebounds, and assists with 18.7, 5.7, and 4.1 per game, respectively. The next highest scorer has been Matt Mooney with 10.9 points a game, and he is the only other Red Raider averaging double figures. They will need some help from other players to come out successful against the Sooners. The offense is averaging 73.5 points a game but the Red Raiders have been doing it on the defensive end, allowing only 53.5 points per game and that will be a key for them in this one as usual.
Sooners vs. Red Raiders Prediction
Texas Tech comes into this one at -6. Both of these teams have been solid this year. Texas Tech has struggled to score the ball lately and don’t have many offensive weapons outside of Culver. Oklahoma has more scorers, and I think they will be able to score enough to keep this one close and maybe even win outright. Take Oklahoma +6.
