The University of Oregon will host Stanford University on Saturday night for a very important Pac-12 football game. The winner of this game will take over first place in the Pac-12 North division. Both Oregon and Stanford are ranked at this point of the season, with the Ducks coming in at number 20, and the Cardinal ranked number 7.
Stanford absolutely destroyed Oregon last season, winning by a score of 49-7. Both teams are off to a 3-0 start this season, and neither team has really been tested so far. Oregon’s best win came against San Jose State, while Stanford’s biggest win was against USC. Stanford comes into this game as a 2.5 point road favorite.

Oregon Putting Up Points
The Oregon offense has been putting up points at an impressive clip this season. Ducks quarterback Justin Herbert is a big reason for the success of the Oregon offense. The junior has thrown for 840 yards this season, while also throwing for a whopping 12 touchdowns through three games. The Ducks will try to play uptempo in this game and let Herbert sling the ball all over the field.
Defensively, the Oregon Ducks have given up a ton of yards, but they also have put a ton of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Oregon has recorded 11 sacks through the first three games of the season which ranks in the top-10 in the nation. The Ducks have a ton of speed and athleticism on the defensive side of the ball, but might lack the strength to defend the run in this game.
Love Returning For Stanford
Stanford will get a big boost in this game as Bryce Love is back in the starting lineup. Love did not play in last week’s game, but head coach David Shaw announced that he is healthy and able to return to face Oregon.
Love has gotten off to a slow start this season, after finishing as the runner-up in the Heisman Trophy voting last season. The senior tailback has gained just 165 yards this season, and only found the end zone on one occasion. Stanford will need a big game from Love in this one.
The Stanford defense has played well for them this season, but will face a huge test in this game. The Cardinal ranks in the top-20 in defensive efficiency, but their stamina will get tested against the Ducks. Stanford’s speed and athleticism will be challenged, but they have enough playmakers on that side of the ball to contain the explosive Ducks.
Stanford Controls Tempo, Wins Game
Oregon is back in the top-25 after a few down years, and the Ducks once again feature a quick strike offense. Oregon has picked apart weaker teams through their first three games, and it will be interesting to see how they fare against a Pac-12 defense.
Stanford will use Bryce Love a ton in this game as a way to slow the game down. Love has struggled so far this season but is always capable of a monster game running the ball. Look for Stanford to give Oregon a wakeup call in this game, and go into Eugene and win in convincing fashion. Bet Stanford -2.5 to beat the Oregon Ducks.
