Game seven: there are no other words like it in the world of sports. Everything is thrown out the door, and it is officially win or start your vacation early.
Sunday will bring a game seven our way in the Eastern Conference when the Philadelphia 76ers travel on the road to take on the Boston Celtics to add one more chapter in this historic rivalry.
After blowing a late lead against the Celtics in game six, the 76ers are now in a completely different mindset looking to bounce back from their horrendous fourth quarter performance.
For much of game six, Jayson Tatum’s struggles were the story of the game until he erupted with three late three’s to go along with some free throws that sealed the deal.
As up and down as the postseason has been, the Celtics came through with their backs against the wall, and now they have one more chance to advance.
In this do-or-die matchup, the Boston Celtics draw a hefty home favorite over the Philadelphia 76ers at -7.5.
Who on the 76ers roster is unafraid to close games?
Even with all of their successes against Boston, for the first time all series, the 76ers looked completely helpless on offense.
James Harden was committing turnovers; Joel Embiid wasn’t demanding the ball; Tyrese Maxey disappeared; and Doc Rivers was hanging his head on the sidelines.
All is not lost for Philly, but they certainly are going to need to bring everything that they can to the table if they want to pull off a game seven victory on the road.
Who steps up in the closing quarter is going to be the biggest question for this team, especially if they have any sort of lead or the game is close in any way.
Another year, another heart attack in Boston
As much success as the Celtics have experienced in the era of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, they certainly don’t like to make it easy.
Hope seemed lost as Tatum continued to drive in and turn it over and over or take another three and brick it on the wing.
Suddenly, the proverbial switch flipped, and the magic began to take the life out of the Philadelphia 76ers arena.
Recreating that magic in game seven is going to be the goal, and Boston managed to pull it off last season against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 76ers are not the Bucks, so who knows what the results will be.
76ers at Celtics Betting Prediction
It seemed insane that the Celtics were favored in game six on the road in this series after how awful they had played in the previous two games.
Despite all of that, the Celtics cooked when they needed to, much to the delight of betters who took them as their favorite.
Home teams are usually the more successful teams when it comes to game seven, but we can’t pretend it has never happened.
There is value in taking the 76ers as massive underdogs, but the Celtics have been here before. Roll with Boston at -7.5 to close out the series.
