For the Philadelphia Eagles, this is just another week in the preseason to help them prepare for the regular season. With Carson Wentz at full strength, they likely will not use him this preseason, as this is more about figuring out who will slot in as the No. 2 QB, with Nick Foles no longer in the fold after two extremely impressive campaigns back-to-back. They have dreams of getting a second Super Bowl title in three years, and perhaps they could find some players to help contribute this week.
It is a reunion of sorts for Foles, as he faces the Eagles for the first time in quite a few years. It is unknown if he will see the field, but we should expect a lot of Gardner Minshew II, who got absolutely trucked by the Ravens’ Kenny Young in the Jaguars’ last contest. After a disappointing season a year ago, Jacksonville will be looking to be relevant once again and back in the playoff picture. It won’t be easy, but they do have the team to do it.
The spread favors the Jaguars by three points (JAX -3), and the over/under is set at 34.5.
Eagles Looking To Fill Out Their Roster
The major things we will be watching for this preseason here will be which backups take on larger roles this coming season, as well as the rookies that will have an opportunity for significant playing time. They did a nice job finding talent on the draft board in each round, and we’ll have a lot to see this season. But it is when the season actually begins that things will heat up, with DeSean Jackson an Eagle once again, as his big-play ability is something that will surely help his squad.
Miles Sanders is a key guy to watch Thursday. The rookie RB out of Penn State will get a lot of opportunities this year, both in place of and together with Jordan Howard. He and JJ Arcega-Whiteside will not be ignored.
Jaguars Trying To Figure Things Out
After the disappointing year they put together last season coming off a trip to the AFC Championship Game, the Jags will try and figure things out. Jalen Ramsey’s play and attitude will be significant for them once Week 1 rolls around, as he talks a huge game, and when he doesn’t perform, it backfires on the rest of the guys on the team. Look for new WR acquisitions Terrelle Pryor and Chris Conley to have a chance for significant reps, as they try and discover chemistry with the backup QBs.
This is an exciting defense, and one that should be among the best in football come the regular season. The backups will try and showcase what they can do.
Jaguars Pick Up A Win
Make sure that any bets you make are tailored for the Jaguars. They will come away victorious against the Eagles in this one!
