A battle of NFC East teams will take place Sunday in Week 18 of the season. The Philadelphia Eagles are on the road at the New York Giants. Philadelphia is coming off a terrible home loss to the Cardinals. The loss sent them into second place in the NFC East, and fifth in the NFC Playoff picture. The defending NFC Champions need a win in this game, and a Washington win over Dallas to grab the divisional title.
For the Giants, they will finish their season with this game. The Giants are 5-11 on the season. New York is coming off a home loss to the Rams in Week 17. The Philadelphia Eagles are -6 on the road at the Giants in this one. The total is listed at 44.5 points.
Struggles for the Eagles
It has not been fun the last month or so for the Philadelphia Eagles. After beating the Bills in overtime at the end of November, the Eagles went 1-4 during December. Their lone win was over the New York Giants on Christmas Day. The Eagles have allowed a total of 130 points in those four losses.
Jalen Hurts is clearly the go to guy in the offense for the Eagles. The signal caller has tosses for over 3,800 yards and 23 touchdowns, with 14 interceptions on the season. AJ Brown has been his top target with nearly 1,500 yards. Hurts is also second on the team in rushing yards with 601, including 15 touchdowns.
D’Andrew Swift went over 1,000 yards on the ground for the Eagles. He leads the running game, which also sees Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny get opportunities. Gainwell is second with 302 yards on the season.
Taylor Leads Giants
The Giants have seen three different guys start under center this season. Daniel Jones, Tommy Devito and Tyrod Taylor have all had their shot. On the season, the Giants offense has seen the quarterback throw 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, and get sacked 83 times on the season. Taylor plans to start this game.
Saquon Barkley is the top running back option for the Giants. He has played in 13 of the 16 games this season, and carried the football 229 times. Barkley needs 84 yards to reach 1,000 on the season, and he has 4 touchdowns. Matt Brieda is the backup and has 55 carries on the season.
Darius Slayton has been the top receiver for the Giants in 2023. Slayton has 708 yards on 45 receptions, with 3 touchdowns. Darren Waller, who has played in 11 games this season has 507 yards and a touchdown. Barley is second on the team with four touchdown receptions in 2023.
