The Philadelphia Phillies will take on the Atlanta Braves on Sunday for what’s expected to be one of the top games of the day.
This is going to be a Sunday Night Baseball game, which is typically one of the best games of the entire week. The Braves and Phillies both made it to a World Series in the past two seasons, with the Braves winning two seasons ago and the Phillies losing to the Houston Astros last season. However, Atlanta has been the much better team this season.
In this series, Philadelphia has played well as they’re currently up 2-1 and are looking to win the series 3-1. With Spencer Strider getting the start for Atlanta, the sportsbooks don’t believe that the Phillies have much of a chance here. They come in at -265 on the moneyline.
Look for Atlanta to Tie the Series
The Atlanta Braves continue to prove that they’re probably the best team in all of baseball. Although they’ve lost two of three to this Phillies team, the body of work that they’ve put in throughout the entire year has been nothing short of impressive. They’re currently 31-21, which is the second-best record in the National League and the fifth-best record in all of baseball.
What Atlanta has been able to do this season is nothing short of impressive once again, as they’ve even had points throughout the year where they’ve struggled, and they’re still ten games over .500. That’s because of the roster that they’ve put together, including newcomer Sean Murphy, who’s one of the top catchers in all of baseball after being traded by the Oakland A’s.
Atlanta‘s going to have to get back on track on Sunday night as they look to at least walk away with a split. They don’t have a chance of winning the series, but leaving with no damage done to their first-place spot would be huge.
Is Philadelphia Back?
The Philadelphia Phillies went out and added Trea Turner this season and were hopeful that they were going to be even better than they were a season ago. Unfortunately for Philadelphia, Turner hasn’t been able to get much going, and it’s been a somewhat call for concern. Before this series against Atlanta, he was looking to be one of the more below-average hitters in baseball for his caliber as a player.
He’s started to figure it out at the plate throughout the past few games, as he went 2-5 on Saturday and scored two runs on Friday. If Philadelphia is going to be the team that they were hoping to be this season, Trea Turner is going to have to get going.
They’re going to be throwing Dylan Covey, which could be the reason why the Braves come in as such a big favorite. The 31-year-old has only thrown in four games since 2021.
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves Betting Pick Prediction
With this game in Atlanta and Spencer Strider on the mound, taking the Braves -1.5 for -125 odds doesn’t seem to be a bad idea. Atlanta is the better team, and they have arguably the best pitcher in the world on the bump.
