Baseball is starting to find its groove amidst all of the chaos of sports and Thursday night will pit the Philadelphia Phillies against the Cincinnati Reds at the Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati.
As far as the start to each of their seasons, both the Phillies and the Reds have left some games on the table and really are going to be hungry for a win in this game to improve on their season.
The Phillies certainly have a more talented roster from top to bottom, but they have been with their all-star Bryce Harper for a short while as he recovers from his offseason Tommy John surgery.
As he is nearing full strength, the good news was reported that he should be hitting at full power and now just has to continue conditioning as well as sliding.
Either way, he won’t be present for this game, but the Reds are favored over the Phillies at -1.5 runs.
Carving a path on their road games
Most of the Phillies’ losses this season have come on the road, and they are in desperate need of figuring out what to do in these games to come out on top.
For their pitching situation, Bailey Falter looks to be getting the nod, and he has some pretty good numbers to start the season. Not to say that he is any kind of ace, but he certainly can get the job done with the Phillies’ defense.
For the other games in this series, they matched up well winning two of three games over the Reds and really establishing themselves as a strong team.
Getting the bats going early will give the Phillies the momentum they need to carry this one through to the end.
Finding offense in the rough of the start of the season
Despite the rough-looking record to begin the season, the Reds have played close in many of their losses including some that have gone into extra innings.
It’s made for a rough stretch, but all the tools are present to give them what they need to get over the hump that is plaguing them currently.
Their projected starting pitcher for this game will be Nick Lodolo, who had a strong showing in his first start of the season and will look to build off that.
Hosting this game about a week after it was rained out in their home city should give the Reds the advantage.
Phillies @ Reds Betting Prediction
Remember that this game was to be played last week but was rained out and now is being made up in between series for these two teams.
The pitching matchup appears to favor the Reds in this situation on their home field, and that gives reason to believe that they will take care of business in this game.
Roll with the Reds to win over the Phillies in the fourth and final game of their series at -1.5, and expect a top tier performance from Lodolo pitching.
