Winding down the end of the NBA regular season has been a treat as the Western Conference has been as condensed as it has ever been.
Two teams that are in desperate need of wins to end the year are going head-to-head on Wednesday night when the Phoenix Suns go on the road to take on the Los Angeles Lakers.
Without LeBron James for more than a couple of weeks now, the Lakers have found a way to put together some wins and Anthony Davis continues to showcase his value for this team.
Another sudden emergence has been Austin Reaves who all of a sudden looks like he could be a quality starter in the league for a long time.
This is juxtaposed with the Suns, who finally look a little bit vulnerable, are on their way to an attempt at home court in the Western Conference playoffs.
Coming into this Wednesday night game, the Suns are favored on the road over the Lakers at -2.
Looking to get some help for their roster
The Suns are really starting to feel the absence of Kevin Durant. It seems like an obvious thing to say with the caliber of player he is, but they gave up some of their depth in the trade to get him.
It has made their rotation really thin on the fringes and in the closing moments of the games they can seem a little bit rundown.
In any case, the Suns are still one of the better teams in the league, but we will see if Deandre Ayton is able to take the floor after sitting out on Tuesday night.
If Ayton is back for the game, it will be a much better matchup against Anthony Davis on the interior.
Hoping to survive to bring back the king
The Lakers really have spent the majority of the season on the fringes of the league, and they have treaded water just long enough for the return of LeBron James.
Still, there is no time table on his return, but the pieces that surround him are now getting some valuable reps in big time situations.
If only Davis would find a way to try and take over in some of these games. His level of play should be able to be enough to carry them to some victories.
He hasn’t been playing bad by any means, but he certainly could be doing more in the absence of James.
Suns @ Lakers Betting Prediction
Both teams are in desperation mode and definitely need wins here to close out their seasons.
It is hard to say whether or not the Suns will be able to produce enough scoring for this game because they have been so hot and cold.
They certainly have the pieces and that is why they drew the favorite on this one, but the Lakers as a home underdog seems too spicy to pass up.
Roll with Los Angeles on their home court at +2 over the Suns.
