Another week goes by in the Major League Baseball season and a new slate of games is active for Tuesday night, including a matchup between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies.
From the looks of the game, it appears to be a beautiful forecast for the perfect kind of baseball weather, and both teams aren’t necessarily off to the hottest start that they could be.
The Rockies have put together a stretch of losses so far in April that have left their roster and team a little befuddled on the outlook for the rest of the season.
The projected pitching matchup looks to pit Vince Valesquez for the Pirates up against Jose Urena for the Rockies. Neither has had the best start to the season that they could have.
One of the best things, or worst things, about April baseball, is that there are still five or six months to go. With how much time is left in the season, teams have plenty of room to turn it all around in an instant.
Before the start of this game, the Rockies draw the favorite on the road over the Pirates at -1.5 runs.
A closely contested division race in the NL Central
While there is still plenty of time left in the year to make any big moves, the Pirates are playing in one of the stronger divisions of baseball. All five teams in the division are competitive every night, and the Milwaukee Brewers are leading the way.
One of the most notable players for the Pirates is Bryan Reynolds, who appears to be leading his team in just about every statistical category associated with hitting that you could think of.
Reynolds is one of the main reasons the offense is staying ahead of the curve, and hopefully his teammates follow suit.
Fighting off the losses for the rest of April
Never does it feel good to lose any game in any sport, but the month for the Rockies so far has been absolutely brutal.
They continue to drop games left and right, but are hoping this will be one that they have a solid chance of winning without too much fuss.
Jose Urena has given up a plethora of runs so far in the season, and his ERA is nearing 10.00, but this will be the chance to turn it all around.
For the sake of their home crowd, the Rockies better be fighting with all they got.
Pirates @ Rockies Betting Prediction
Nighttime baseball is Colorado has got to be a dream with the mountains off in the distance. Unfortunately for the Rockies, this month has felt more like a nightmare.
This could be the series to swing things back into their favor, but the Pirates are no pushover and have the firepower in the altitude to give the Rockies all they can handle.
Both starting pitchers for this game aren’t great, but the Pirates have a better offense overall. Take the Pirates as the road underdog to win at +1.5 runs.
