After another week of football in the books, the Monday night game will conclude with the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road against the Indianapolis Colts.
The two teams are likely out of the playoff race, but the Colts at least have a chance in their own division to take control.
It is going to be an uphill battle, but another strong home AFC win could open the gates for them. With Jeff Saturday taking over the head coaching role, another win here in prime time would put the league on notice.
The Steelers have experienced some ups and downs, but that is to be expected with the rookie Kenny Pickett at quarterback.
This doesn’t mean that there isn’t a solid foundation there to work with for either team, but it is going to be a long uphill battle to get to the top of NFL relevance in the coming years.
The spread for this game favors the hosting Indianapolis Colts at -2.5.
Finding out what you have in Kenny Pickett
The rest of this season is going to be solely focused on seeing what kind of player Kenny Pickett can develop into. It is likely that the Steelers will end up with another high draft pick, but going quarterback two years in a row doesn’t seem like something they will do.
A couple of their skill players are younger and will likely need to answer the call by next year. Some receivers have shown flashes of promise, but they will need more than that.
The way that they can win this game is with solid defense. It is an age-old belief that any Steelers team will automatically have a good defense.
Holding the line against Jonathan Taylor will have to be the top priority.
Is it worth it to turn the season around this late in the game?
After a depressing start to the season, the Colts immediately turned the keys over to unproven Jeff Saturday. He won his first game, and came darn close to beating the best team in the NFC.
At this point of the year, they could still end up turning it around, but you have to wonder if it is worth it.
Their defensive front is killer, but they need a lot of help on offense and a new quarterback.
All of those pieces that are missing are going to need to be replaced in the coming year or two.
Steelers @ Colts Betting Prediction
As far as matchups go, these two teams are built in a similar fashion: they both rely on a strong defense to carry their team.
Expect this game to be low scoring, which has favored the Colts for most of the year. This team thrives off winning close-contested games.
Jonathan Taylor gave two games in a row that were showing who he was last season, and this will be his third.
Take the Colts at home at -2.5 to win over the Steelers.
