After a long and tumultuous season, two teams that are generally in the mix are stuck in the fringes of the Western Conference playoff picture.
They have matched up with each other many times in recent memory, and the Portland Trail Blazers will be on the road to take on the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.
Portland is coming off an insane victory where Damian Lillard put up one of the most prolific scoring nights in NBA history.
His output this season has risen to an even higher level as he continues to take shots from halfcourt and beyond. It seems like he just gets further and further back with each game he plays.
The Warriors are still without Steph Curry for a few more weeks, so we will miss the coveted matchup between Curry and Lillard for this Tuesday night contest.
With all of that said, the matchup ahead of this game favors the Golden State Warriors at -4.
Showing out with Lillard to lead to victories
The Trail Blazers have been part of a long season, and they continue to try and find new ways to win games when they can.
Even if this means Damian Lillard has to put up 71 points to get there, the Blazers have committed themselves to their franchise cornerstone, and he has proven to be just as good as he has ever been.
Their team continues to evolve, but that roster is going to need to shape up for them to have a chance at making a run towards the postseason.
Matching up with the Warriors, the two sides should be pretty even, but Lillard can still be that x-factor in the absence of Steph Curry.
Continuing to get better without relying on Curry
Since Curry’s absence, the Warriors have been in need of different players to step up all over their roster, and it, surprisingly, has been effective.
Klay Thompson, for example, is someone who had lost his swagger with his multitude of injuries. He now looks more spry compared to the start of the season, and his jump shot has improved as well.
This Warriors team, despite hanging out on the lower end of the standings, has been lights out on their home court all season long.
As long as Jordan Poole and some of their other young players continue to develop in the right way, the Warriors should set themselves up nicely for success.
Trail Blazers @ Warriors Betting Prediction
The new age of the NBA has been on full display this season with how big of scoring games we have seen from a number of different scorers.
Both of these teams are capable of getting hot and raining in threes, and the Warriors have all the potential to break loose here on their home court.
Their record at home this season is 24-7, and the crowd will be all the way behind them to take down the Blazers. Take Golden State in this game at -4.
