After an exhilarating primetime matchup against the New York Knicks on Thursday night, the Sacramento Kings are back in action on the road against the Phoenix Suns. The story of the week is the Suns losing Kevin Durant for an indefinite amount of time after he slipped in their warm-up lines and rolled his ankle.
This comes as a sharp blow to Phoenix after spending so much at the trade deadline to acquire him and finally getting a chance to develop some chemistry on their roster. It was a scary sight to see both Durant and Booker get to work with all of the pieces they have surrounding the two superstars, but now it will have to wait for at least a few more weeks.
As a top seed in the Western Conference, the Kings have shocked the entire league this season and continue to showcase why their offense is one of the best we have ever seen. Ahead of this tip-off, the Phoenix Suns draw the favorite on their home floor over the Sacramento Kings at -3.5.
Fighting for home court in the playoffs
Of all of the teams in the Western Conference, the Sacramento Kings have experienced the most surprising season out of the bunch. It has been all about their offense this season, and they continue to find some of the highest levels of efficiency, especially in the clutch situations at the end of games.
In some of the new and rising duos of the NBA, Fox, and Sabonis continue to shine and look like they can handle just about any situation that comes their way. All of this good fortune has put the Kings as the two seed, and they will battle down the stretch to maintain this position.
Staying above the pack without Kevin Durant
With how good Mikaal Bridges has looked during his short tenure in Brooklyn, the Suns are missing him at the moment without Durant in the lineup. The only good news about Durant’s injury is that he should be at full strength once the postseason begins, and it gives the Suns the best chance to win in their matchups.
Downright scary with Durant in the lineup, the Suns are going to have to find a way to treat water without him, and that should be no problem. Devin Booker has elevated his gameplay this season to prove himself as a top-ten player and shines every night he takes the floor.
Kings @ Suns Betting Prediction
With two electric offenses on the west coast going head-to-head, Saturday night is set up to be an exciting matchup. Missing Durant in this game will be unfortunate for all parties involved, but it still shapes up to be a great and intriguing matchup to show us a potential late-round preview.
The way the King’s offense has been playing is lights out, so taking them in this situation as the underdog when the Suns are down a star seems like the smart move. Roll with Sacramento at +3.5.
