San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

The San Francisco Giants will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday for what’s expected to be one of the better National League West games of the day. Although neither team has been incredible to start the season, Arizona is just 2.5 games behind the first-place Dodgers in the division, and the Giants are just six games behind, despite being four games under .500.

The Diamondbacks had a hot start to the season but are now just 5-5 in their last 10 games. If they want to compete with the Los Angeles Dodgers throughout the entirety of the season, they’re going to need to play consistent baseball. The Dodgers have proven throughout the past few years that they’re not a team to mess with, so all these games in the division are going to be huge for Arizona.

The sportsbooks believe that the Giants have the upper hand in this one as they will be coming in at -130 on the moneyline.

Can the Diamondbacks Get Another Division Win?

The Diamondbacks might be one of the most fun teams in all of baseball to watch. They almost resemble the Baltimore Orioles. They have young talent mixed with a few veterans and have proven that they can get the job done against any team in all of baseball.

They’ve been playing much better than some anticipated coming into the season, so it does look possible that they could even sneak into the postseason.

However, if they want to complete that task, winning games against the Giants are going to be pivotal. San Francisco has struggled this season, for a few different reasons, but the Diamondbacks need to take advantage of that because they’re not going to play much worse than they’re currently playing.

The Giants Need to Figure It Out

The Giants are favored in this game because of who they have on the mound. Alex Cobb has been in this league for quite some time and has proven that he can be an above-average pitcher in this league. The 35-year-old has spent more than 10 years in the majors and comes into this one with an impressive start to the year. He’s currently 2-1 with a 1.24 WHIP and a 2.01 ERA.

He isn’t going to be easy for the Diamondbacks to counter with, but they have more than enough to get the job done on the offensive side of the ball.
