The San Jose Sharks have been able to navigate their way through a pair of difficult playoff series this postseason, but they are in for a real test now. San Jose must travel to St. Louis and win in Game 6 if they want to keep their season alive. The Blues have won two straight games to take a 3-2 series lead and are on the cusp of a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals.
St. Louis looked shaky through the first three games of this series, but they have been dominant in their last two wins. The Blues have a rookie in net, but he has played like a seasoned veteran in the last two games. San Jose has a roster that is filled with veterans, and they still have a chance to save their season in this game. The St. Louis Blues are -155 over the San Jose Sharks in Game 6 on Tuesday night.
Schwartz is a Scoring Machine
Vladimir Tarasenko is the best offensive player on the St. Louis Blues roster, but it has been another player who has been the star in the postseason. Left winger Jaden Schwartz notched a hat trick in the Game 5 victory and now leads the team with 12 goals and 16 assists. Tarasenko has chipped in seven goals and five assists in the playoffs, and these two players are giving the Sharks nightmares.
Jordan Binnington gave up 11 goals in the two losses this series, but he has figured things out in a hurry in net. Binnington has given up just one goal in the last two games and stopped all 21 shots that he faced in the Game 5 victory. The Blues allowed just 2.68 goals per game during the regular season, and their defense has stepped up as well. St. Louis doesn’t appear to have many weaknesses at this point.
Injuries Mounting For Sharks
The San Jose Sharks came into this series with all of their big guns healthy, but that won’t be the case for the remainder of the series. Defenseman Erik Karlsson missed eight minutes in Game 4 and was more bad than good for the Sharks in Game 5. The veteran had a few key turnovers and missed plays that led directly to Blues goals. Joe Pavelski and Tomas Hertl also suffered injuries in Game 5, and their status going forward is unknown.
San Jose has been scoring goals like crazy in the playoffs, but their offense has been completely non-existent in the last two games. Logan Couture leads the Sharks with 14 goals and 20 points in the playoffs, but he is going to need some help from his teammates. San Jose was the second highest scoring team in the league this season, but they haven’t looked like it of late.
Blues Close Out Series
Even though the Sharks are not an easy team to eliminate, the St. Louis Blues are just playing too well right now. The crowd in St. Louis will be going crazy from the opening faceoff until the final buzzer, and the Blues are going to find a way to get this done. Bet the St. Louis Blues -155 in Game 6 on Tuesday night.
