The Seattle Mariners will travel to San Diego on Tuesday to take on the San Diego Padres in a two-game series. Neither the Padres nor Mariners have played too well this season after an off-season that many predicted they were going to finish with a playoff spot.
Both teams come into this one in fourth place in their respective divisions and are below .500. If they’re going to want to play better coming into this series, they’re going to need to be much better on the offensive side of the baseball. The Padres’ issues have been on the offensive side ll, and the Mariners have struggled offensively as well.
It’s going to be interesting to see what bats end up showing up for these two teams, but the sportsbooks believe that the Padres are going to be able to get the first game as they come in as the favorite on the money line at -135.
Can San Diego Be As Good As Expected?
The San Diego Padres might have the most talented lineup in baseball, but when looking at what they’ve done this year, they haven’t been able to get much going. A team that features Fernando Tatis Jr., Juan Soto, Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and many others, the Padres should be the best offensive team in major league baseball.
However, they’ve struggled this season because of what they’ve done on the offensive side of the ball, and it’s been a major call for concern. Not only are they not hitting, but they’re failing to score runs at any sort of level in certain games. They didn’t play well against the Chicago Cubs in their most recent series as they ended up losing two of four against a Chicago team that many regard as one of the worst in baseball.
If this lineup can eventually figure it out the way that everybody knows they can, this is going to be one of the toughest teams in Major League Baseball to beat. They have star power all over their lineup.
Can Seattle Figure It Out?
The Seattle Mariners have also been disappointing this season after making the playoffs for the first time in a very long time a season ago. Seattle is still going to need to figure things out on both sides of the baseball, but the pitching has been elite for them this year.
They’re going to be starting Logan Gilbert, and that should be good news for them given what he’s been able to do throughout his young career. Although he struggled in his last outing, he came into that one with a 3.6 ERA and still has a WHIP below one. The stuff has been high-level this year, and he has a real chance of stopping this slow Padres offense.
Seattle Mariners at San Diego Padres Betting Pick Preview
With this game being played in San Diego, taking the Padres doesn’t seem to be a bad idea here.
However, it could be a good time to take the Mariners at plus money. They’re going to be getting good odds to win this game outright at +115. Neither team has played too well, so taking the team with plus money could be a smart bet.
