The Seattle Seahawks take on the Minnesota Vikings Sunday in what could be a potential playoff matchup this season. We have two teams who are looking to get into the postseason this year, one who was successful in doing so in 2018, and the other hoping to come around and make it back. The Seahawks went on a run late in the regular season to ensure themselves a ticket to the postseason, and now they hope to do it again. We’ll talk about their young guys and what they need to do in order to make this happen again.
The Vikings, on the other hand, hope to get back to the postseason. They are paying Kirk Cousins $30 million a year, and he was no doubt, the most scrutinized starting quarterback in the league last season. There are a number of things he does well at that position, but then every mistake he made was magnified. This is a talented quarterback that is in charge of a team with aspirations of taking this thing to the Super Bowl.
The spread for this game favors the Vikings by two points (MIN -2) and the over/under is set at 41.5.
Seahawks Looking To Develop Chemistry
Seattle comes into this season after a narrow defeat to the Cowboys during the Divisional Round in 2019, and now they hope for more. They brought in some talented guys through the draft who they hope will be able to help them win immediately. LJ Collier should prove to be somebody they can trust and being able to snag him at the end of the first round was a fantastic get for the Seahawks. Marquise Blair is an extremely talented safety who they snagged in round two, and they will be looking to see if he can become elite. And WR Gary Jennings is another weapon for the newly-extended Russell Wilson.
The journey in the regular season will be a tough one as the Seahawks, finishing second last year, will not have an easy road to get to the playoffs again.
Vikings Ready To Begin Their Turnaround
Rookie RB Alexander Mattison has been making some waves this preseason and is being picked up in fantasy leagues now. With Dalvin Cook battling injuries over the past few seasons, Mattison is going to have some opportunities on the big stage to make things happen. The battle to be the backup QB could rage on if they opt to hold on to three. Jake Browning and Kyle Sloter don’t have any experience yet at the pro level but hope to try and challenge Sean Mannion for the right to be Cousins’ immediate backup.
Minnesota and Seattle played a memorable postseason game five years ago, where Blair Walsh missed a short field goal for Seattle that was going to send the game to OT. They have history.
Seahawks Pick Up Preseason Win
The Seahawks will be getting the job done tonight, so make sure you put your money on them! Minnesota takes the Week 2 loss.
