Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers are set to battle on Sunday in an exciting divisional battle. Both of these teams would like to forget what happened last week and just move on.
Seattle got pushed around by Minnesota, while the 49ers lost on a last-second miracle drive from Aaron Rodgers. Onwards and upwards for both clubs moving into this one.
Starting 1-2 was not in the plans for the Seahawks, who have not looked like themselves. The defense has been very bad, while their run game has started off very slow. They are going to be without TE Gerald Everett, who just contracted COVID-19, taking one of their top targets out of the lineup. There should still be plenty of pass-catchers for Russell Wilson to target.
Entering into week 4, and Trey Lance has made just one throw and run the ball a few times. He has been responsible for two touchdowns and is hoping to pick up many more in the league.
Jimmy G is still holding the job down, though he made some very questionable throws against the Pack last week. In this game, the team needs to start to find their mojo and march onwards with a win.
Nothing like an early NFC West showdown. Especially when the division is loaded.
Betting Odds & Lines
The spread for Sunday is currently set at SF -3. The over/under is sitting at 52 points. The SEA moneyline is +125, and the SF moneyline is -149.
Seahawks Seeking Key Win
Through three games this year, Chris Carson has carried the ball just 41 times. He has amassed 202 yards and three TD’s on those attempts, with no other back taking more than three carries on the season. It’s a similar situation as Cincinnati has where the backup RB’s don’t get many touches when they are on the field.
What they do still have is D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are catching every ball that comes their way. They have both been very good this year, each catching 16 balls and putting up a combined five touchdowns. Through these three games, Russ is yet to throw an interception, and the team has only one turnover.
They did allow Tennessee and Minnesota to score 30+ points. That is usually a losing recipe.
San Fran Aiming for 3-1 Start
So far this year, only two guys have been reliable in the 49ers’ offense. Deebo Samuel has 20 catches for 334 yards. George Kittle has 15 for 187 yards. There is no other legitimate receiving threat here, as the #3 guy is FB Kyle Juszczyk with 59 yards. That has to improve if they want to win games.
Brandon Aiyuk did finally break out last week, though. And they should get Elijah Mitchell back. He is likely to split RB duties with Trey Sermon, who had some very good moments a week ago. The two young backs have shown some real promise.
They need to keep Russ from a late drive, and they can win.
Seahawks Snap Out of Funk
Seattle will win a tight game, knocking the Niners back to .500.
