Both Teams Coming In Off Tough Losses
The Chiefs are coming off a heartbreaking loss against the Chargers last week. Kansas City led by 14 midway through the 4th quarter but ended up losing the game on a late touchdown and two-point conversion by the Chargers. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went 24 for 34 for 243 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Damien Williams ran the ball 10 times for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns. Damien Williams was also the leading receiver for the Chiefs, catching 6 passes for 74 yards. Travis Kelce was the next highest receiver, turning 7 catches into 61 yards. Darrel Williams and Demarcus Robinson both caught a touchdown pass in this game.
The Seahawks are coming off a tough 26-23 overtime loss to the San Francisco 49ers last week. The Seahawks could have clinched a playoff birth with a win last week but will have to wait at least one more week for that opportunity. In that game, Russell Wilson went 23 for 31 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. Doug Baldwin was the leading receiver with 77 yards on 4 catches and 2 touchdowns. Chris Carson was the bell cow in the backfield, going for 119 yards on 22 carries. Carson also got into the end zone one time.
Seattle Defense Hanging In There
The Chiefs come into this game having gone 2-2 in their past four games. On the year, the Chiefs offense has been one of the most impressive in the league. They rank 1st in both total yards and points per game, with 427 and 36, respectively. They average 313 passing yards per game, which is 2nd in the NFL and 114 rushing yards per game, which is 16th in the NFL. The Chiefs are missing Kareem Hunt’s rushing production badly. The defense has not been very productive, as it ranks 31st in total yards allowed and 29th in points allowed with 409 and 27 per game, respectively. They allow 283 passing yards per game and 127 rushing yards per game, which ranks last and 26th in the league, respectively.
Seattle had a slow start to the season but have turned it around and should make the playoffs this season. Both the offense and the defense should play big parts on this one. The offense ranks first in the NFL in rushing yards a game with 155 yards. The passing attack has been a little less impressive, averaging just 195 yards per game. They have put up 26 points per game which is 9th in the league. The defense has bent but hasn’t broken so far this season. They allow 360 total yards per game which is 19th in the NFL but are 7th in points allowed with only 21 per game.
Chiefs vs. Seahawks Prediction
The Chiefs come in at -2.5. This game means a lot more to the Seahawks, as they are battling for a postseason birth while the Chiefs have already clinched a spot in the playoffs. The Seahawks have been doing it on the ground and should be able to run the ball successfully against a soft Chiefs defense. Seattle should be able to stop the Chiefs offense to an extent and keep this game pretty close. Take the Seahawks +2.5.
