After a roaring opening to the Major League Baseball season, a host of brand news series will begin starting on Monday night.
Looking at the slate of games on the schedule, the Tampa Bay Rays will be on the road to take on the Washington Nationals in Nationals Park.
As far as opening the year goes, things could not have gone any better for the Rays in their matchup with the Detroit Tigers as they swept them in three games to none.
On the other hand, the Nationals managed to pick up the victory on Sunday, but they finished their opening series at 1-2 and will look to bounce back hosting this next series.
Projected pitchers for this matchup include Drew Rasmussen for the Rays and Trevor Williams for the Nationals, neither of which have accumulated any stats yet on the season. This will be their pitching debut.
Opening the spread for this game, the Rays are favored on the road over the Nationals at -1.5.
Beginning the year on the highest note
Not too much needs to be said or highlighted for the Rays to begin this season on the right foot. Coming out and sweeping your opening series has to be a huge confidence booster for everyone involved with the team.
The story against the Tigers has to be how well their offense got going at the plate, scoring over 20 runs in their three game matchup.
Jose Siri was the king of the opening games, as he was able to accumulate three RBIs as well as a home run for himself against Detroit.
Continuing on this streak against the Nationals won’t be easy, but the Rays come into Monday night with the right kind of momentum to keep their bats swinging.
Time to bounce back in Washington
After giving up seven runs in each of the first two games against the Braves, the Nationals were able to put together a complete performance on Sunday night winning 4-1 while holding the Braves to only 4 hits.
The talent on this team may not be as strong as it is in Tampa Bay, but to open the spread as a home underdog has to give some motivation to the players in that clubhouse.
Building off Sunday afternoon, the Nationals will look to give the Rays all that they can handle in this matchup.
Trevor Williams is a strong right-handed pitcher and will need to come out in a strong debut.
Rays @ Nationals Betting Prediction
The MLB season will continue to carry on, and teams are still finding their bearings with their new rosters. How everyone will be able to gel on their new teams will be the focus of the first couple of weeks.
For now, the Rays look like they came out on a hot streak and they will be able to continue this offensive barrage on Monday night in Nationals Park.
Take Tampa Bay on the road as the favorite at -1.5 to win the game easily.
