Tennessee was flying high after destroying the Browns on both sides of the ball in Week 1, amassing a 30-point victory. Last week they could not back it up as they dropped a contest to the Colts to move three teams in the division into a tie for first at 1-1. Now they have Jacksonville, with another early-season divisional showdown, and the Jaguars are going to be hungry after just barely falling to the Texans last week. Can the Titans bounce back?
The Jaguars, on the other hand, are definitely feeling the pressure, but it does not seem that rookie QB Gardner Minshew is, as he has been playing some stellar football this year since taking over for Nick Foles, who went down early. This may well be Jalen Ramsey’s last game in Jacksonville, a move that not many of us could have seen coming, even with his large ego and desire to win. Perhaps a win tonight may be able to help them out with trying to possibly keep him.
The spread for this game favors the Titans by 1.5 points (TEN -1.5), and the over/under is set at 39.
Tennessee Tries To Get Back On Track
One thing that has gone well for the Titans this year has been the play of Marcus Mariota. He has had his ups and downs through his career, but this season has been going well. The addition of Ryan Tannehill to the QB room was a move that was expected to add a little bit of pressure, in the hopes that they could get him to step up. And he, along with RB Derrick Henry, has been playing some impressive football after the first few weeks of the season.
Tennessee’s secondary is a key part of its recipe for success, and look for it to continue to be a factor. The depth chart they carry with corners and safeties is as impressive as any other team in the league.
Jaguars In Search Of First Win
After a trip to the AFC Championship Game in 2017, the Jaguars could not follow up the expectations that came with being a winner and bottomed out well-below .500 last season. To start this year, they have already lost their big-money QB and have dropped two games with their No. 1 DB requesting a trade to another team. If Ramsey can be on his best behavior and can make some big plays, maybe the relationship can be healed. But if they should come up short in this one, he will likely be on the outs, officially.
They attempted to beat the Texans with a late-game two-point conversion last week, and after it failed, they trailed by a single point with under 35 seconds on the clock. As a result of this, they would go down to 0-2.
