The 2023 World Series is set to move to Game 4 of the best of 7 series. After Texas came from behind to win Game One, Arizona dominated Game Two, and then on Monday, Texas beat the Rangers to move ahead 2-1 in the series. Game 4 will take place on Halloween night, while Game 5 is slated for Wednesday night. The Arizona Diamondbacks come into this game listed at -115 over the Texas Rangers. The total for this Tuesday affair is set at 9.5 runs.
Rangers Send Lefthander to the Hill
Andrew Heaney gets the start for the Texas Rangers in this one. The 32-year-old lefthander last pitched on Friday, but only faced two batters. He has made two starts in the postseason for a total of six innings. During those six innings, he has allowed 4 runs. Heaney made 28 regular season starts and finished with a 10-6 mark.
In the win on Monday, the Rangers needed just three runs in the third innings to seal the deal. After Marcus Semien got the party started with an RBI base hit, Corey Seager belted a two run home run to put them ahead 3-0. After Max Scherzer was only able to go three innings in the game, the bullpen slammed the door shut.
The Rangers though have some concern as their star slugger Adolis Garcia left the game with an injury. It appears it is an oblique injury. He will get more tests done on Tuesday morning, but he is likely out for this game. Garcia has been red-hot in the postseason, including a 7 game-hitting streak, and also the home run in Game 1 to win the game. The hitting streak was snapped in the Game 2 loss.
Bullpen Game for Arizona
For the Arizona Diamondbacks, they will start with Joe Mantiply. He is 2-0 in the postseason, with a 4.26 earned run average. This is his 9th appearance of the postseason, with just one start coming October 21st against Philadelphia. During the regular season, he made just three starts and pitched a total of 29 innings.
Arizona, in their first home World Series game since 2001 could not find any offense in the game. Tommy Pham picked up two hits in the game, while the entire Arizona offense came away with just six overall. The lone run for Arizona came in the 8th inning when Geraldo Perdomo singled in Emmanuel Rivera.
Ketel Marte has been the big story on the offensive side for the Diamondbacks. Marte has gotten a hit in every postseason game this fall. He started with two hits against the Brewers, and then had five against the Dodgers. In the NLCS, he was named MVP with 12 hits, and now he is 3-13 in this series. Corbin Carroll is another guy that the Diamondbacks depend on offensively. Corbin went 0-3 in the loss on Monday, but also is 3-13 in this series, and had a five game hitting streak going into yesterday.
Texas Wins Game 4; Moves to Ahead 3-1
We like the Texas Rangers. Heaney has made some starts before, and that is a big deal here. Look for the Rangers to score off Mantiply early and run away with this one. The Rangers move to within one game of being World Series Champions.
Arizona falls to down 3-1 in the series but will have a chance to keep the series alive on Wednesday with their ace on the mound. Bet the Texas Rangers -105 over the Arizona Diamondbacks in World Series Game 4.
