The Texas Rangers will continue their road stretch in their second game against the Colorado Rockies. The first game of the series ended in a win for the Rangers, who will be hoping to bring that same intensity Saturday night.
The Rangers have had a pretty mediocre season this year remaining just under .500 and hopefully will try to capture some key wins on the road against the second-best team in the National League.
The Rockies had a tough series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, dropping two games out of the series before hosting the Rangers and dropping the opener. This home series against the Rangers can give them a great opportunity to bounce back and grab some wins at home before heading back out on the road.
Texas Rangers: Gibson Could Be Trouble
The Texas Rangers will be starting Kyle Gibson at pitcher in this game against the Rockies, and in his last three starts, he is 0-3. With injuries plaguing the Rangers pitching rotation, it seems like Gibson is the only option available to make the start. If he’s able to keep the score from getting out of hand, the Rangers will at least have a chance to rally back if need be.
What’s troubling about Gibson starting is that he’ll be facing the team with the best batting average in the league. Rightfielder Charlie Blackmon leads the league in batting average, runs batted in and hits. Gibson’s night could be potentially ruined right from the beginning if Blackmon is able to expose the 0-3 pitcher.
Colorado Rockies: Ready To Rattle Rangers
Even with their recent struggle against the Diamondbacks, the Colorado Rockies are still one of the top-tier teams in the league. With incredible batting and above-average pitching, the Rockies are poised to take advantage of this short season.
This series against the weak-pitching Rangers will give the Rockies a chance to gain ground on the Los Angeles Dodgers, who lead Colorado by a game in the NL West.
To boost confidence even further in this one, the Rockies come in with a better record against the runline (12-7). The Rangers have a terrible record on the road against the runline (1-6), leaving very little confidence in them to cover, especially with Gibson on the mound.
Texas Rangers vs. Colorado Rockies Betting Pick
The Rockies have too much firepower in the dugout to lose this one. Gibson is 0-3 in his last three starts and has to face the team leading the league in batting average. Not to mention the terrible road record against the spread that the Rangers possess.
You also have to take into consideration that German Marquez, the starting pitcher for the Rockies, has a 2.08 ERA. The Rangers just aren’t deep enough on the mound to keep up with the Rockies in this one.
With that being said, you have to go with the home team that has a lot to lose if they drop more than one game in this series. Bet on the Colorado Rockies -1.5.
