Texas Tech Raiders vs. Texas Longhorns Betting Preview
The Texas Tech Red Raiders will travel to Austin and take on the Texas Longhorns for what’s expected to be one of the top college basketball games of the day. This is one of the biggest rivalries in all of college sports, and it would make sense if this is one of the top games of the night.
Despite Texas Tech not playing well in the Big 12 this season, the team has shown that they can beat some high-level opponents out of the conference. However, it might not be an easy task for them to get the job done against this Texas team on Saturday as the Longhorns come in as a top 10 team in America.
Texas Tech Needs to Get Going in Big 12
When looking at what Texas Tech has done this season, it’s easy to see why people are a bit questionable about what this team is going to be able to do this season. They have impressive wins over teams like Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Georgetown, and other high-level teams.
However, they’ve lost to all of the best teams they’ve played this year. They lost to Creighton, Ohio State, TCU, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa State. Because of that, it’s tough to say that they’re going to be able to come away with the win in this one.
De’Vion Harmon is somebody that I’ve been impressed with for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, as he’s averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting nearly 50% from the field as a guard. The senior out of Texas has to get going in this game if they want any chance of winning.
Texas Should Win With Ease
The Texas Longhorns are arguably a top-five team in the country, and that’s evident by their currently being in the top 10. There are areas where this team needs to improve but just like every other team. They come in at 3-1 in the Big 12 and 14-2 overall. Furthermore, they’ve been a beast at home this season, as they sit at 10-1.
Their only loss in the Big 12 comes against Kansas State, and that’s where their defense wasn’t able to do enough to get the job done. That’s one thing that Texas needs to figure out this season as their defense has lapses throughout the year where they show that they can get stops at an elite level, but then in other games, they find themselves in bad positions.
Timmy Allen is the guy to watch out for in this one, as he’s been a force to be reckoned with all season long. The forward out of Arizona is averaging 10.6 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 3.8 assists while shooting 48.6% from the field.
Texas Tech Raiders vs. Texas Longhorns Prediction
The line for this game is a bit interesting, as Texas will be an 8.5-point favorite. With the way that this team has played all season, it certainly makes sense. However, in Big 12 games between two rivals, 8.5 points can certainly be looked at as a big line. Texas should find a way to cover, but this one could end up close.
