The College Football season is already through three weeks of the season. Week 3 saw a slate that did not feature many big-time games, but it did come away with a pair of Top 25 teams falling.
The first loss by a Top 25 team was the 15th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats falling to the Missouri Tigers. The Tigers needed a 61-yard field goal as time expired to come away with the win.
The win for Missouri pushed them to 3-0 on the season, and they may move into a Top 25 spot with the win. The Tigers have games against Memphis and Vanderbilt to finish up the month of September before a date with LSU on October 7th.
SEC Final Scores
While the SEC won in the first Top 25 loss of the day, the SEC was the other team to lose in the Top 25. But, this was SEC vs. SEC crime, as the Florida Gators smacked the Tennessee Volunteers in the mouth and beat them 29-16.
The Gators led for most of the game, including scoring 20 points in the second quarter of the game. Both teams moved their record to 2-1 on the season.
Speaking of SEC – the LSU Tigers were among the most impressive Week Three winners. The Tigers went on the road to Mississippi State and beat them badly.
The Tigers led the game 24-0, before the Bulldogs scored their first touchdown. The second half was not better for the home team, as they fell for the first time this season. LSU’s win pushed them to 2-1 on the season.
Staying in the SEC – it was not pretty, but both the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs came away winners. Alabama was in a 3-3 tie with South Florida at halftime but scored two second-half touchdowns to win the game 17-3. This win came after the Crimson Tide fell in Week Two to Texas.
For Georgia, they trailed 14-3 at halftime before scoring the final 21 points of the game and winning 24-14. South Carolina played a solid game, led by Spencer Rattler, but came up short and are now 1-2 on the season.
In other interesting College Football games:
The Florida State Seminoles struggled but ended with a road win at Boston College. The final score was 31-29, much closer than many projected in this one.
Penn State looked good again and won a Big Ten road game.
The Nittany Lions went to Illinois and beat the Illini 30-13.
Duke beat Northwestern at home 38-14, North Carolina beat the brakes off of Minnesota, and Washington blew out Michigan State on the road.
Week Four Looks Outstanding
What a great Week Four schedule. When looking ahead, it will be an incredible slate of games. There are a bunch of games featuring ranked teams against each other.
Some of the best games of the week include Ole Miss on the road at Alabama, Colorado at the Oregon Ducks, the UCLA Bruins on the road at the Utah Utes, Oregon State heading to Washington State in a Pac-12 battle, Ohio State on the road at Notre Dame, and Iowa at the Penn State Nittany Lions.
All five of those games are Top 25 matchups!
