The UFC is back in London for the second time in 2023 and tonight’s headlining bout is a top-10 heavyweight showdown between Tom Aspinall and Marcin Tybura. These two are looking to make the next step toward the UFC heavyweight title.
Aspinall is making his return from a devastating knee injury almost a year ago to the day in the same O2 Arena octagon, to face a familiar face in Poland’s Marcin Tybura. These two have a history of being friendly and even training together, but all that goes out the window tonight when their future is on the line.
The London crowd will be cheering on another future English UFC champ, but can Tybura ruin all the fun while stealing the hype of Aspinall? A win for Tybura means he can steal that #5 ranking and earn himself a massive fight with title implications in his next appearance.
Tom Aspinall–The Future Champ
It’s difficult to even pretend this isn’t the truth anymore: Tom Aspinall is the future UFC heavyweight champion. He is arguably the most talented all-around fighter in the division right now, even with Jon Jones in the mix.
The speed, strength, and skillset are second to none and will continue to prove to be an issue for anybody he faces. The only question surrounding him this weekend is how he will look on that knee that he blew out a year ago this weekend.
If you are newly interested in the UFC and haven’t seen Aspnall fight, make sure you tune in this weekend to see how he imposes his will on his opponents. Barring any more freak injuries, Aspinall has the chance to steamroll right through a very good fighter in Tybura.
The amount of work that Aspinall has put in the last year after his surgery is shown on the outside as well. He has put his body into a transformation, and his physique proves that as well.
Marcin Tybura–Can He Steal The Show?
Tybura’s advantage this weekend is that he is being overlooked by just about every single person that knows about this fight, except for Aspinall. If Aspinall slips up even a little bit on taking this fight seriously, Tybura has the skill and the power to make this a really crappy night for UK MMA fans.
The Polish heavyweight has a lot of experience against very dangerous heavyweights and knows many ways to calm the storm and survive minute after minute until he can get his offense going. He is very solid everywhere the fight can go.
Heavyweight MMA is almost like a completely different sport than other weight divisions because these guys have so much power that one punch landed with four-ounce gloves can end the fight.
Aspinall vs. Tybura Pick and Prediction
As you might have guessed, the prediction for this bout is that Aspinall will get his hand raised in his emotional return to the O2 Arena tonight. He is going to be able to control the pace of the fight from the opening glove touch and land heavy shots.
He will most likely hurt Tybura badly on the feet and have his choice of level changing for a submission, or finishing the fight with punches. This will most likely be a first-round finish for Aspinall.
